Singer/Actress/Dancer Alyson Stoner put her own spin on Hailee Steinfeld’s No. 1 hit “Love Myself” in a fun upbeat new cover video that went live on her YouTube channel @TheRealAlysonStoner today.
The new pop track inspired the former Disney star to explore deep within herself about what it truly means to love yourself, something she had to experience first hand after a recent breakup, which she explains in more detail on her blog:
“….from somebody who is going through a break-up — the painful undoing of attachment, companionship, support, shared joy — please take your time when you meet people,” she shares. “Be patient and use wisdom in letting your innermost places be laid bare for them. Your heart is a fragile, powerful thing. Love yourself. #LoveMyself #iloveme “
The “Love Myself” video also features energetic choreography and is one of the many reasons that garnered the triple threat star her first Streamy Nomination in the Dance category for her iconic “Missy Elliott Tribute Video” released earlier this year that attracted over 14 million viewers. It was through this video the Step Up actress reminded her fans and the rest of America that her dance days are far from over and there is much more to come. The Fifth Annual Streamy Awards honor the best in online video and the creators behind it and will be broadcast LIVE on Thursday, Sept. 17 at 10p.m. ET/PT on VH1.
Additionally, last month, Stoner was announced as the Goodwill Ambassador for the nonprofit organization, I Pour Life (IPL), and asked her fans to join her in helping raise $10,000 for her upcoming Ethiopia initiative. With 30 days to spare, her fans went above and beyond allowing her to reach her goal. Now, thanks to their help, Stoner and the IPL team will be able to help empower women by teaching them life and leadership skills and give various resources so they too can provide for their families.
“We did it,” she exclaims on her Instagram (@alysonrae). “Thank you so much to over 100 people from around the world who have contributed giving a hand up not just a hand out dropping differences to make a difference and you made it happen! Thank you again!”
Stoner leaves for Korah, Ethiopia this week and will be updating her fans about the trip upon her return.
