American Idol is coming to an ending this week 😥 We are very sad to see this amazing show to go off air, but the producers are making sure it goes out with a bang 👊
Tonight (April 6), the Top 3 dwindled down to the two finalists. Before we tell you who’s going head to head tomorrow night in the finale, let’s talk about our favorite possible single for the winner.
Tonight, Trent Harmon performed the song that will be his single if he wins tomorrow night, “Falling.” All three contestants had wonderful songs and performed them very well, but Harmon’s set the tone not only for the night, but also for the rest of his career.
His song had a bluesy, almost Justin Timberlake feel to it. He showed all of his vocal range in this song spectacularly. He showed us, the audience exactly what type of artist he wants to be.
After La’Porsha Renae, Dalton Rapattoni, and Trent Harmon performed their possible “winning” singles, we learned who was in the finale.
La’Porsha Renae was the first one to secure her spot in the finale, so it was down to Trent Harmon and Dalton Rapatoni. These two have been our favorites, so this was a real nail biter.
After that EXTREMELY long pause (Come on, Ryan), it was announced that Trent Harmon was still in the competition, meaning Dalton Rapattoni‘s journey on Idol was coming to a close. Rapattoni was all smiles, though! It warmed our heart to see him filled with such joy for Trent moving forward. We hope to see more of Dalton in the future!
The next performances were chosen by creator and executive producer Simon Fuller. This round was without a doubt La’Porsha Renae‘s round.
The 22-year-old Mississippi native covered “A House Is Not A Home” by Dionne Warwick. Her powerhouse nature shined in this song.
Keith Urban said, “I don’t even smoke and I need a cigarette right now.”
Renae has an ability to make any audience feel what she’s singing, she puts so much emotion into every performance and it shows every single time. She’s going to fight until the very end of this series and she’s willing to put every ounce of herself into it.
The third and final round of performances for Idol ever were chosen by the contestants. Renae and Harmon were given the opportunity to sing a song already performed on the Idol stage for one last time.
The winner for us this round was Trent Harmon with his flawless cover of Sia’s “Chandelier.”
Keith Urban said that his performance may have had it a real easy decision for the viewers and I couldn’t agree more. For me, it definitely made me more concrete in my decision to vote for Harmon to be the next American Idol. He gave the best performance I’ve seen from him all season. We also learned that he has a journal for his journey on Idol. After every performance he writes down every critique given to him by the judges.
The series finale of American Idol airs tomorrow, April 7th @ 8PM ET on FOX. Make sure to keep it here on Celeb Secrets as we’ll be on the red carpet talking to the contestants, judges, and special guests before the big event!
