Pop artist Asher Monroe, who recently hit #1 most viewed on the YouTube charts with his music video “Like I Do” reaching over 1.5 million views in 48 hours, will headline the 2nd Annual DigiTour, it was announced today. Joining the likes of other viral phenoms like Dave Days, Destorm, Ricky Ficarelli, Alex Goot, Nice Peter, and The Key of Awesome as co-headliners, Monroe will visit top markets including New York, Philadelphia, Boston and Houston for this large-scale music tour featuring some of the biggest self-made YouTube stars in Spring 2012, sponsored by Neuro. The tour will begin on March 1, 2012 in Los Angeles with more dates to be announced. VIP ticket packages go on sale December 19th exclusively on www.thedigitour.com and www.youtube.com/thedigitour just in time for the holidays.
“I’m ecstatic to be joining such a talented lineup and to hit the road next year as part of the DigiTour,” says Monroe. “I’m incredibly thankful to my fans for the success of the ‘Like I Do’ video and I can’t wait to get out there and play my new music for them live.”
Monroe recently took YouTube by storm with the release of his new music video for the track “Like I Do,” creating a fan frenzy with over 1.5 million views within 48 hours of its November 7th debut. With over 700,000 views in the first 24 hours alone, the buzz-worthy video also landed on the YouTube homepage and went on to score the #1 “most viewed” status on the YouTube charts on November 9th. The epic song is currently available for download on iTunes and gives fans an introduction to Monroe’s upcoming solo debut EP slated for release on February 21, 2012.
Last year’s successful DigiTour launch broke new ground in the entertainment industry by changing the traditional concert platform, and launching solid brands that have the ability to bridge the gap of web and mainstream. Proof of this transformation is seen in the international acclaim and success of The DigiTour alumni, who most recently swept the New Media category at the 2011 AMA’s with all three honorees having participated in last year’s DigiTour.
Dallas Morning News commented, “A pop- culture phenomenon made a full-circle voyage Friday night at the House of Blues: YouTube’s DigiTour came to town.”
