Ava Kolker Talks All Things “Girl Meets World” – Read the Q&A!

If you answered yes to that question (why wouldn’t you be watching), then you may recognize child actress Ava Kolker on the series. Ava plays Ava Morgenstern, aka Auggie’s girlfriend on the show.

Celeb Secrets had the opportunity to chat with Ava earlier this year to talk about her new movie Message From the King, and season three of Girl Meets World. She also talks about participating in LA Fashion week for the first time and her hidden talents — make sure to read the full Q&A below!

Girl Meets World airs on Fridays @ 8:30PM ET/PT on Disney Channel. In this Friday’s episode titled “Girl Meets Triangle,” Maya’s (Sabrina Carpenter) identity crisis kicks into full gear when her art teacher makes her realize her friendship with Riley (Rowan Blanchard) may be affecting her artist’s voice.

Celeb Secrets: How was LA fashion week? Was it your first time? 

Ava Kolker: “It was fantastic.  It is always so nice to be able to wear glamorous clothes for amazing designers, and make new friends.  I walked LA Fashion Week last year for 2 designers and this year again for 2 designers so it was wonderful.”

Celeb Secrets: Can you tell us about your role in the upcoming film Message From the King? 

Ava Kolker: “Yes, my role in Message From the King is very different from anything I have ever done before.  I play Boot who is the daughter of a single mom who lives in the drug world of Los Angeles.  It is a thriller with very dark parts to it, but is uplifted by the close relationship of the mother and daughter amongst the ugliness of the dark side of LA.”

Celeb Secrets: Do you remember what it was like working with Jenette McCurdy and Ariana Grande on Sam & Cat and how things were on set? 

Ava Kolker: “I do.  When I first got the audition, I told my mom “I really want this one” .  It would be crazy amazing to meet Jenette McCurdy and Ariana Grande.  So when I was cast, I was so excited.  They were really fun on set, and Ariana was singing the whole time between takes.  You can tell it’s in her blood.”

Celeb Secrets: What can we expect from your character in season 3 of “Girl Meets World”? 

Ava Kolker: “The character of Ava Morgenstern really deepens in Season 3.  She is no longer just the spoiled manipulative girl we have seen so far.  She goes through some personal challenges and becomes much more vulnerable and real.”

Celeb Secrets: Without giving too much away, can you tell us spoilers about season 3? 

Ava Kolker: “Unfortunately I can’t, so you’ll have to tune in, but all I can say is it will be different and the audience may be surprised at some of the direction it takes.”

Celeb Secrets: What’s it like working with Auggie and your other co-stars?

Ava Kolker: “That’s the best part, Auggie and I are great friends, so it’s always so fun working with him.  He makes me laugh all the time.  The other co-stars are very nice and nurturing to me.  I never feel pressured.  It’s a very safe place to be and to work.”

Celeb Secrets: If Girl Meets World could cross over with any other Disney show, which one would you choose?

Ava Kolker: “Probably Austin & Ally, because I have watched every episode and love them both so much.”

Celeb Secrets: You’ve been acting since the young age of 5! What was your favorite project you’ve done so far? 

Ava Kolker: “Actually, I worked on my 1^st project at 4 years old on American Horror Story.  I have to say my favorite project other than Girl Meets World has to be Scary Movie 5.  It was just fun and light, and I got to do my own stunts, and be in a fist fight, and do lots of things I had never done before.”

Celeb Secrets: Are you obsessed with any TV shows and/or songs at the moment? 

Ava Kolker: “Believe it or not, I watched Friends all the time, and I love all the R5 songs.  I know the words to everyone of their songs.”

Celeb Secrets: Since we are Celeb Secrets, do you have any hidden talents that fans may not know about?

Ava Kolker: “I play soccer, I sing, I dance, I am double jointed, I do musical theatre, and I can swim under water for 2 pool lengths holding my breath.”
