Are you heading to Park City, Utah for the 2015 Sundance Film Festival? If so, you have to check out Stockholm, Pennsylvania when you’re in town!

Stockholm, Pennsylvania follows Leia (Saoirse Ronan) who is returned home to her biological parents after living with her abductor (Jason Isaacs) for 17 years. There she discovers her real name is Leanne and the world outside is not the place she had been raised to hide from. As Leia struggles to piece together a new world-view and sense of self, her mother (Cynthia Nixon) wrestles with reentry into sudden motherhood and the reality that her daughter is more lost to her than ever.

We caught up with Avery Phillips, who plays the seven-year-old version of Leia played by Saoirse Ronan. In our interview, Avery talks about her role in Stockholm, Pennsylvania, the most challenging part of shooting, advice she has been given from her co-stars, and her dream movie role. Check out the Q&A below.

Stockholm, Pennsylvania will be playing at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah beginning Friday, January 23, 2015 @ 12:15PM MT.

CS4U: What can you tell us about your role in your upcoming film, Stockholm, Pennsylvania?

Avery Phillips: “My character is a little girl who was kidnapped and reunited with her parents many years later.  I play the young version of Saoirse Ronan.”

CS4U: What was the most challenging part of shooting such an emotional part?

Avery Phillips:“Crying was probably the hardest thing because I had to go to a sad place in my head and really become Leia.  I wanted to make her real.”

CS4U: You’ve worked with some very talented and famous costars. What have they taught you about acting or the film industry?

Avery Phillips: “Always have fun.  If you aren’t having fun you shouldn’t be doing it!  I love learning from all of them.”

CS4U: Who would you love to work with in a future film?

Avery Phillips: “Johnny Depp.  I think he is an amazing actor and he seems like a cool guy to hang out with.”

CS4U: Do you have a dream type of movie role?

Avery Phillips: “Yes!  I would love to be in an action movie where I can do my own stunts.”

CS4U: Do you have any advice for kids your age who want to become involved in the entertainment industry?

Avery Phillips: “If it’s something you really want to do, don’t stop bugging your parents about it!  Don’t give up if it’s your dream.”

CS4U: What was your favorite movie of 2014?

Avery Phillips: “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies”

CS4U: Since our website is called CelebSecrets4U, do you have any secrets or hidden talents that you can share with us?

Avery Phillips: “I’m only 9 so I don’t have a lot of secrets plus my parents will read this!  I can’t stand cheese though – is that really a secret?  Even the word cheese grosses me out.”
