Country music superstar Blake Shelton took home his fifth CMA Male Vocalist of the Year Award last night tying him with fellow Oklahoman Vince Gill for the most consecutive number of trophies in that category.
Ashley Monroe joined Blake on stage for the debut of Blake’s next single, “Lonely Tonight.” The music video, directed by Shaun Silva and shot in Los Angeles, was just released and can be viewed today exclusively on Amazon.com and BlakeShelton.com and available everywhere tomorrow. “Lonely Tonight” is the second single from Blake Shelton’s BRINGING BACK THE SUNSHINE, debuting at No. 1 upon release and making Blake the first country artist to top the Billboard Artist 100 chart. “Neon Light,” the album’s debut track, and current single is at #2 on the country singles charts.
Currently in the studio with Vince Gill and Justin Niebank, Monroe is working on the follow up to her critically acclaimed Warner Bros. Records debut, Like A Rose. The album was named the top country record of 2013 byBillboard, Rolling Stone and The New York Times.
Shelton wrapped his sold-out Ten Times Crazier Tour 2014 — including performances at NYC’s Madison Square Garden and Chicago’s Wrigley Field Stadium playing to a capacity crowd of over 40,000 fans as only the fourth country artist to have ever played the iconic 100 year-old ball park and LA’s historic Hollywood Bowl. Celebrating thirteen years since his first single “Austin” hit the top of the country radio charts, Shelton holds 17 No. 1 singles to his credit, recently breaking his own record for most consecutive No. 1’s at country radio. With 12 singles, including five from his last album alone, Shelton has the most No. 1’s in a row on the country radio charts by any artist. Joining the ranks of the Grand Ole Opry as a member since 2010, Shelton has earned a host of awards and nominations throughout his career. Shelton returned as a coach for his seventh season of NBC’s Emmy winning reality competition series, The Voice, which premiered September 22nd.
