Blake Shelton makes the history books again!
Following his record tying fifth consecutive CMA Male Vocalist of the Year Award, Shelton breaks his own record again with “Neon Light” becoming his 13th consecutive No. 1 single. Marking the most consecutive No. 1 songs on the Billboard and Mediabase country charts during the monitored airplay era, “Neon Light” is his 18th No. 1 overall and first single off his latest album BRINGING BACK THE SUNSHINE. “It’s always exciting to have a No. 1 record and I’m especially proud of this one, because this song blends the current sound on country radio with the traditional feel that I grew up with,” said Blake. “It has elements of a song that one of my heroes, Earl Thomas Conley, might have recorded.” Blake debuted the second single, “Lonely Tonight” featuring Ashley Monroe on The 48th CMA Awards last week.
Along with an American Music Awards nomination for Favorite Male Artist – Country, Shelton is the most nominated country artist for next year’s People’s Choice Awards. Shelton is the only country artist receiving a nomination for the all-genre Favorite Male Artist award, along with nods for Favorite Male Country Artist and “The Voice.”
Shelton wrapped his sold-out Ten Times Crazier Tour 2014 — including performances at NYC’s Madison Square Garden and Chicago’s Wrigley Field Stadium playing to a capacity crowd of over 40,000 fans as only the fourth country artist to have ever played the iconic 100 year-old ball park and LA’s historic Hollywood Bowl. As the reigning CMA Male Vocalist of the Year, Shelton ties the record for consecutive wins in this category with fellow Oklahoman Vince Gill. Joining the ranks of the Grand Ole Opry as a member since 2010, Shelton has earned a host of awards and nominations throughout his career. Shelton returned as a coach for his seventh season of NBC’s Emmy winning reality competition series, The Voice, which premiered September 22nd.
