Zumyah Thorpe, 11, had tragedy hit her family last year, after a drunk driver ran a red light, killing both her pregnant mother and two younger sisters. Though she survived, Zumyah suffered severe injuries, as well as brain damage.
During her recovery, nurses at the UH Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital say they played Mars‘ music every night, which they believed truly inspired the young girl to recover. They say that Mars‘ songs such as “When I Was Your Man” encouraged Thorpe to begin walking and even sing some of the words to his songs.
Bruno embraced the brave young girl on stage at his Cleveland show this past weekend, as he dedicated her favorite song “Just The Way You Are” to her, as he ended the show.
The singer even posted a picture of the two together saying, “Zumyah tonight you gave my band and I something we’ve never felt before. you’re an inspiration to the world! #WeLoveYouZumyah”
