Celeb Secrets Raises Awareness to LGBT Youth at The Trevor Project’s TrevorLIVE LA Gala

Do you or any of your friends ever feel alone and need someone to talk to? If so, take a look at The Trevor Project — the only national, accredited organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ youth.

Since the election, over 90% of people contacting Trevor have expressed anxiety about Trump’s presidency and are concerned that their rights will be taken away. On December 4, 2016, a few short weeks after the presidential election, the organization held its annual TrevorLIVE LA Gala at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles and raised nearly one million dollars to help the LGBT youth.

Led by special guest director Chris Folkens and narrated by Bruce Vilanch, the event had a star-studded guest list including Julianne Hough, Chloe Grace Moretz, Dermot Mulroney, Kathryn Hahn, Ariel Winter, Lance Bass, Pauley Perrette, Margaret Cho, Lisa Vanderpump, Jay Duplass, Noah Galvin, Dan Bucatinsky, Ava Allan, Krista Allen, Yetide Badaki, Raymond Braun, Kitty Brucknell, Hayden Byerly, Jeffrey Bowyer Chapman, Julyza Commodore, Jack Falahee, Jay R. Ferguson, Daniel Franzese, Jason George, Dana Goldberg, Joey Graceffa, Cheyenne Jackson, Trevor Jackson, Paul Katami, Shira Lazar, Cody Longo, Trace Lysette, Lana Parrilla, Martha Plimpton, Joey Pollari, Fred Rosser, Matt Shively, Jamie Lynn Sigler, J.J. Totah, Jonathan Tucker, Bruce Vilanch, Bebe Wood, Hudson Yang, Jeff Zarrillo, and more. The room was filled with members of the LGBTQ community, donors, advocates, and volunteers that brought out comedy, music, and heartfelt speeches that engaged guests philanthropically and emotionally as they celebrated The Trevor Project.

Honorees throughout the evening included Kelly Osbourne for the Trevor Hero Award; Facebook received the 20/20 Visionary Award, accepted by Alex Schultz, Facebook’s VP of Growth Marketing, Analytics & i18n; and Ingrid Nilsen, who was honored for being the Trevor Digital Innovator. Guests were also treated to musical performances by Our Lady J, Brian Justin Crum, Trans Chorus of Los Angeles, and an incredible performance by Ty Herndon, who is donating his share of the proceeds from his hit song “Fighter” to support Trevor’s work to save young lives.

Celeb Secrets had the opportunity to attend the red carpet to talk to the celebrities in attendance and check out all of the excitement happening inside. The event was filled with love and support for one another and the organization The Trevor Project, and celebs shared advice on not being alone, how you can help the LGBTQ community, and the importance of the Trevor Lifeline in today’s society.
