We’ve brought you all the biggest names in the YouTube world…
From Cody Simpson to Savannah Outen and Christina Grimmie, CelebSecrets4U is always keeping you in the loop on who’s the next big thing on the net. Today, we’re happy to introduce our new favorite YouTube pair, Megan and Liz.
Megan and Liz are 19 year old twins that took the internet by storm in early 2007 with their first video, This Note. They’ve racked up close to 100 million views on YouTube and their music channel is ranked #34 with over 600,000 subscribers. As the numbers grow daily, their Facebook page is almost at 200,000, while over 135,000 people follow them on Twitter.
Having become a veritable internet sensation, a producer from The Oprah Winfrey Show reached out to them in 2009. Megan & Liz were supposed to “audition” for the show on Skype, but suddenly Oprah surprised them by broadcasting the video chat live on national television and introducing them to another high-profile fan, none other than Taylor Swift. Gaining endorsement from Taylor and Oprah, they continued releasing original music via iTunes independently (selling almost 3,000 singles a week since the Oprah appearance) and now they’re approaching 100,000 in digital singles sales.
This past Sunday, we hung out with the girls at the House of Blues Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, CA at their show with Allstar Weekend, Hollywood Ending, The After Party, and Before You Exit. In the interview, the girls told us their inspiration behind their first video and new single, “Old School Love,” Zach’s appearance on the song “Telescope,” and even dished some secrets about an album dropping this summer!
