Cheat Codes are back with a fiery new summer anthem and turned to Little Mix to lay down the vocals on it!
The EDM trio’s new track — titled “Only You” — just dropped this morning and already has over a half a million streams on Spotify.
The song itself is about heart-break, loneliness, and wanting something more. With lyrics like, ‘Once upon a time we had it all / Somewhere down the line we went and lost it / One brick at a time we watched it fall / I’m broken here tonight and darling, no one else can fix me / Only you, only you / And no one else can fix me, only you,’ “Only You” is not only a ‘cry for help’ song, but also a love song about trying to find the one that can make you feel complete. Powerful lyrics, a rippling electric guitar, pitch-shifted vocal samples and skittering electronic drums easily makes “Only You” a radio hit that music lovers will be singing over and over for weeks to come.
In a statement, Cheat Codes described the song as telling “a story that a lot of people are familiar with, like picturing love as your favorite movie and this is the final scene. You don’t want it to ever end, but unfortunately there’s no way to rewind the footage; the memories of that love are all we hold.” They added, “‘Only You’ is about that special someone who no matter where you are in the universe your stars still align.”
