The time has finally come — the spin-off for Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron is finally here!
Called Spirit Riding Free, the series follows the heartfelt journey of a gutsy 12-year-old girl named Lucky (Amber Frank) who befriends a wild mustang whom she aptly names Spirit. With her two best friends (and their horses) by her side, Lucky and her friends explore a world filled with endless rides, magnificent horses and never-ending fun! Together they’ll push their own limits, harness the power of friendship and discover what it truly means to be free.
Darcy Rose Byrnes plays Maricela, who is the Mayor of Miraero’s daughter and instantly becomes friends with Lucky (Frank) when she moves to town. We had the opportunity to talk to Byrnes recently, where she gave us the scoop on the adorable, girl-power animated series.
In our Q&A below, Darcy tells us about her audition process, working with her co-stars, and what she hopes kids will take away from the movie when they watch it.
