deadmau5: First Canadian Artist to Headline Toronto’s Rogers Centre Saturday, November 5!

Canadian platinum-selling independent artist and four-time JUNO award winner deadmau5 will make history on November 5 as he will become the first Canadian artist as well as the first electronic artist to have a headlining concert at the Rogers Centre when he brings his state-of-the-art live tour show to Toronto. The history of the building has played host to many great musical events and concerts, such as headlining tour shows by U2, The Rolling Stones, Coldplay and the Concert For Toronto special event, but has never had a Canadian artist headline their own show at the venue. Accustomed to communicating with his millions of fans online, deadmau5 will also share the first 25 minutes of the tour finale show with a free live stream from  http://live.deadmau5.com, marking the launch of his new live streaming website, produced by exclusive streaming partners, Influxis. This live stream will also take place in tandem with exclusive media partner, YouTube, with both airing the live portion of the performance at 12 midnight EST/9 PM PST/4 AM GMT.

Named after his cat Professor Meowingtons, deadmau5’s Meowingtons Hax 40+ date tour has broken several records already, beginning with its opening date in Chicago when he became the first electronic artist to co-headline the annual Lollapalooza festival along with Foo Fighters. SPIN.com lauded his performance as the #1 set in The 10 Best Sets of Lollapalooza 2011 list and stated, “The level of spectacle that the Canadian electronic musician/producer commands is not just beyond any other electronic act, it’s beyond any other act period.”

Following Lollapalooza, deadmau5 set new records in Montreal and New York City within days of each other. In Montreal, he performed an unprecedented four consecutive shows at The Metropolis including a record three sold-out nights. His next tour market was New York City, where he performed an unprecedented six consecutive sold-out nights at Roseland Ballroom. Rage Against the Machine held the previous honor with five consecutive plays at Roseland in the summer of 1996.

While on tour, deadmau5’s latest album, 4×4=12 (Ultra Music, December 2010) reached platinum sales status in his native country, making his release the only Canadian Anglophone album to achieve the prestigious accolade this year.

The Meowingtons Hax Tour has helmed headliner slots at Outside Lands and the Virgin Mobile FreeFest, as well as four sold-out consecutive shows at the legendary Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.  Other multiple sold-out dates include shows in Atlanta, Dallas, Boston and Chicago. Following in the footsteps of the Rolling Stones, deadmau5 also headlined his first baseball stadium show at PETCO Park in San Diego this past October.
