The clever tale about the adolescent sons and daughters of Disney’s most infamous villains will continue as the highly anticipated sequel, Descendants 2 has officially been greenlit.
The Disney Channel Original Movie is slated to begin production this summer and premiere some time in 2017. It was announced on Friday, June 10 by Gary Marsh (President and Chief Creative Officer, Disney Channels Worldwide).

Descendants was the no. 1 cable television movie of 2015 as well as the fifth highest-rated original film EVER on US cable TV. Not to mention, it’s also the no. 1 Disney flick in France, Netherlands, South Belgium, South Africa, and Spain.
Dove Cameron (Liv and Maddie), Cameron Boyce (Gamer’s Guide to Pretty Much Everything), BooBoo Stewart (X Mens Days of Future Past), Sofia Carson (Adventures of Babysitting) and Mitchell Hope will all reprise their roles as Mal, Carlos, Jay, Evie, and King Ben. China Anne McClain (ANT Farm) will be joining the all-star crew as Uma, the daughter of Ursula from The Little Mermaid. More casting news (including Captain Hook and Gaston) will be announced soon.
