Everything That Happened From Night One of “The Voice” Season 13 Finale

Last night was the biggest night for Season 13 of The Voice and Celeb Secrets was there to witness it all.

The final four contestants — Team Blake‘s Chloe Kohanski and Red MarlowTeam Adam‘s Addison Agen, and Team Miley‘s Brooke Simpson performed for America’s votes on Monday (December 18) in hopes of becoming the season 13 champion of the most popular singing competition show of our generation. Each contestant sang three songs — a cover, a duet with their judge, and an original, which is a series first this year.

The night started with Addison Agen, the youngest contestant of the competition, singing a cover of Tim McGraw‘s “Humble and Kind” which resulted in happy tears.

“I sang ‘Humble and Kind’ as my first song tonight and just taking the message of that song — that’s why I think it was such a beautiful moment to end on and that’s why I broke down crying because I could not believe that this is my life — is the one thing I will take away from this experience,” Agen told us following her performance backstage.

Team Blake‘s Red Marlow followed her with a wonderful cover of Bob Dylan‘s “Make You Feel My Love.” It paired perfectly with his vocals and was hands down his strongest performance of the night.

Following Marlow, Team Miley’s Brooke Simpson played a smart move for her cover and performed “O Holy Night,” which she sang the HELL out of. After her performance, she shared that the song was so special to her because she used to sing it at her church all the time.

Last (but certainly not least,) Team Blake’s Chloe Kohanski nailed the first round of performances with a cover of Kim Carnes’ “Bette Davis Eyes.”

For the second round of performances, each contestant got to relive some moments with their judges on screen while getting to perform a duet with them for the last time on stage.

The first duet of the night was Red with his coach Blake Shelton. Marlow and Shelton stuck to their country roots by covering Brad Paisley’s “I’m Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin’ Song).”

Following Red and Blake, Addison and coach Adam Levine graced the stage with their cover of “Falling Slowly.”

Next up were Brooke with coach Miley Cyrus. They performed Cyrus’ original “Wrecking Ball” and it was not what we were looking for at all. As much as we wanted to love this, unfortunately, it seemed as Brooke was more of a back up vocalist to Miley rather than a duet WITH Miley.

Lastly, Chloe and coach Blake Shelton switched things up and went with a country cover of “You Got It.”

Round two’s performances fell a little short, however, the contestants made up for it with their original songs for the third and final round.

Chloe kicked off the originals with her song “Wish I Didn’t Love You.” It was intimate and moving, and played to her raspy voice!

Brooke’s original, “What Is Beautiful”, was one of our personal favorites. It is all about not living up to the standards of society’s beauty. It was a song packed with emotion, showing her vulnerability and strength!

Red’s original, “I Pray”, which he co-wrote, is the route we see him going down in the future.

Lastly, Addison premiered her song “Tennessee Rain”, which was stunning. This song definitely showed why Addison deserved to be in the top four.

We’ve been covering The Voice live shows for MANY years, but out of all of them, season 13 has to be one of our favorites. This season, we saw each contestant grow not only vocally, but in all aspects.

Coming into the competition Chloe Kohanski was a top competitor, especially with her clan of fans voting each week for the raspy “80’s” singer. Red Marlow has the country voice we haven’t heard in a while and missing on country radio, while Addison Agen has voice that is is unique and raw. Out of the Top 4 contestants, Brooke Simpson HAS to be our personal favorite. She hits these powerful vocals reminding us of 90’s pop music, all while bringing the diversity we need in the music industry.

Watch our interviews with the contestants below to hear them reminisce on their first audition, memorable moments, and share the first thing they are going to do once they arrive home. Make sure to see who will be crowned the winner of Season 13 tomorrow, December 19th @ 9PM ET/PT on NBC.
