Hey CelebSecrets4U readers,
You may be familiar with Colette Carr from our video interviews or hearing her catchy tunes on the radio, but we are so excited to announce that Colette has a brand new single out called “Like I Got a Gun!” Check out our full Q&A with Colette, where she chats about music, her clothing line, and much more! CelebSecrets4U is also running a cool contest in honor of the single… We’re giving away a water gun with Colette’s and the single’s name! To enter (US only), send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with your name and your Twitter username (be sure to follow us on Twitter!) and the winner will be selected at random. Good luck!
Can you tell us a bit about your clothing line Coca-Nico?
Coca-Nico is the name of the retail store I started with my sister. She has a lot of business acumen and I’m good at inventing stuff to wear, accessorize and generally steeze out with so we decided to put our skills to good use by opening Coca-Nico; the only place in the world where you can get the exclusive Crowlette watch.
We know you have your own radio show on Cherrytree Radio, Colette Carr Pool Live, what’s your favorite part about that?
Cherrytree Radio gave me the slot and said “do whatever you want.” That’s my favorite part: I do whatever I want. It’s a virtual ride in my car set to my favorite jams. I invited friends on and we talk a lot of ish. It’s a blast. Don’t miss it. You can chat with me at the same time as the show is on by going to cherrytreerecords.com/chat
“Like a Gun” just came out! What’s the meaning behind the song and video?
I wanted to flip the script on all of those videos where male MC’s are hosting the party. This time, it’s me and my girls hosting our own party. So booya!
When can we expect to see Skitszo in stores and on line?
Skitszo is a living and breathing document of my life. I’m constantly adding to it as I experience new things. It’s coming out as I go. “Back It Up” “(We Do It) Primo” “NO I.D.” “F16” “Like I Got a Gun” are the road to Skitszo.
You worked with a Peruvian band, Adammo, for their new album called Tiempos Violentos and featured on their song, Caminando (Canciones Del Ayer). What was that like?
It was amazing. A cultural meeting of the creative minds. They’re great guys and very musical. Our styles are very different, but somehow they worked together on the song we did, “Caminando.” I think we share an open-minded and experimental approach and that helped gel it all together. It was a real honor to collaborate with them and also to think that my work is known in South America. I have a lot of Go’ers from there and I can’t wait until I get the chance to see them all in person.
You have gotten to work with some big names people like New Boyz, Far East Movement and even Lil Jon, who else do you hope to work with on future music?
Aha! That’s going to be a surprise, but all of the collabos happen organically. I like them. The like me. So, we get in the lab and express. It’s a beautiful thing; making music with other musicians.
For those who have not heard of your music why should they tune in?
Because it’s fun, positive and has a point of view – my point of view. It’s shaped by my experiences and I love to share them. I’m also committed to making the best music I can and I think people are looking for new, exciting sounds. That’s what I’m working to bring to y’all! Boom!
We are CelebSecrets4U, can you share a secret or hidden talent with us?
Yes, I can beat my producer Martin “Cherry Cherry Boom Boom” at tennis. He’s tried to play me twice now and the score has been 6-0 and 6-1. I told him I’d publish the score in my next interview so there it is. A CelebSecrets4U exclusive. Oh yeah – and I can also talk to Dolphins. I can confirm that they act all cute and friendly but a lot of them are assholes.
