When you look back on 2014, you will remember it as the year of Jasmine Villegas. After going on a three year hiatus, the 20-year-old actress and singer is ready to make her mark in the music industry. Jasmine recently signed a recording contract with Interscope and is expecting to release new music very soon.
Last week, Jasmine invited us into the studio to give us an exclusive listen to her new EP. Even though her highly-anticipated EP currently has no release date, Jasmine exclusively told us that it will be released sometime this summer. While debuting the songs, Jasmine spilled to us what each song was about, the writing process for each track, and how she chose which songs made it to the record. On this EP, Jasmine’s lyrics are based on her own life experiences. We love how honest Jasmine is to her Jasminators–to see the honesty carry over to her songs make us love her even more!
Before inviting us into the studio, students in schools across the country participated in exclusive listening sessions hosted by Jasmine. At these schools, Jasmine had the opportunity to introduce herself and her sound to students that have never heard from her before. One particular song the students grew to love was “Saturday Love.” The track is about a girl being a guy’s second choice how finally decides she is no longer settling. After hearing “Saturday Love,” many girls told Jasmine they could relate to the song. Overall, Jasmine received positive feedback from the listening sessions and even gained a few Jasminators!
Jasmine will be singing her new songs live for the first time at Pop-Tarts’ Crazy Good Summer 50th Birthday Bash concert on June 25th in Hollywood. The event will be held at the House of Blues Sunset Strip and tickets are free! To get your free tickets (available starting TODAY), head over to Pop-Tarts’ official Facebook page for more info. If you’ve been dying to hear Jasmine’s new songs, this is one event you DO NOT want to miss!
Thank you for inviting us into the studio, Jasmine! We can’t wait for the world to hear your new music!
