Exclusive Premiere: Brooke Hummel’s New Single Lives Up To Its “Beautiful” Name

Brooke Hummel‘s new single is definitely living up to its “beautiful” name, and Celeb Secrets has your exclusive first look to the pop ballad.

From the simple piano to the powerful lyrics, Hummel’s track is the perfect song for your significant other or loved one in your life. Lines like “I just called to say I’m thinking of you” and “you’re beautiful to me” give you those instant butterflies and feelings that are indescribable.

Born in Ocala, Florida and raised in St. Petersburg, 16-year-old, singer/songwriter, Brooke Hummel began singing in her local church at just ten years old. As a child she was naturally exposed to just about every genre of music, shaping her into the well-rounded musician she is today. After posting videos of her singing on YouTube and performing in festivals and show throughout North Carolina, she was discovered and signed by Jermaine Spencer with BNR Records at a showcase in Charlotte, NC in early 2014. Brooke recently released her first EP in October 2016.

Celeb Secrets also had the chance to chat with the 16-year-old recently to talk things from standing up to bullies to her dream collabs. She even revealed some secrets about herself! Make sure to listen to “Beautiful” and learn more about Brooke Hummel by reading our Q&A below.

Celeb Secrets: When did you start making music and what made you decide you were going to pursue it as a career?

Brooke Hummel: “I started making and singing music when I was twelve years old. I didn’t decide I wanted to do it full time until I was in my freshman year of high school and I was starting to see how many different directions I could go in life.”

Celeb Secrets: What style of music would you like to explore a little bit more in your future songs?

Brooke Hummel: “I want to try some indie trap songs!! I’m all about switching up genres so that my listeners are never bored.”

Celeb Secrets: Your song ‘Cruel’ came out in February 2016 and is a testimony of your personal experiences with bullying. What is it that made you want to communicate this message? Can you share a little bit more about that?

Brooke Hummel: “For me personally, going through bullying was a lot to handle. But what made it worse was not being able to find anybody to relate to or to be able to connect with on a similar level as to what I was going through. So after I overcame this, I decided to take initiative and put into place the things that I personally saw missing.”

Celeb Secrets: What advice would you give to teens who are going through the same things you did?

Brooke Hummel: “I always say this because this was what helped me most: talk to somebody. It’s okay to feel weak and want to ask for help because you really just need that time to express how you’re feeling.”

Celeb Secrets: Can you talk us through your creative process, are you involved in the creation of your songs?

Brooke Hummel: “Songwriting for me is just now becoming an everyday thing. I was kind of stuck for a while, but now that I’ve been getting the hang of it, I have been writing every single day. My favorite place to write is at the beach!”

Celeb Secrets: We already know you have a crush on Shawn Mendes! Do you have a celebrity woman crush?

Brooke Hummel: “Carrie Underwood. She. Is. Amazing! I have looked up to her for YEARS!”

Celeb Secrets: If you could pick two music YouTubers to record a cover with, who would they be?

I would choose William Singe and Daniel Coz!

Celeb Secrets: What are some of your beauty secrets? You always look so fresh-faced and sophisticated!

“When it comes to makeup, we live in a time where more is better… however, that is just not true. Less is best, so that the real you can still stand out (and it’s not so hard to take off after shows. lol!)”

Celeb Secrets: What was one of your favorite moments on stage / most memorable performance?

“One of my favorite moments was at the EmpowerHERment summit in Charlotte, NC! I was singing and telling my story, which has really been getting to me on an emotional level. The next thing I know I was crying and all the girls were telling me they loved me… it was so heartwarming!”

Celeb Secrets: Who are your biggest musical influences?

Brooke Hummel: “Recently, I have been inspired by a lot of instrumentals. There are loads of artists I want to learn from vocally, but I have been so focused on how my next few songs are going to sound lyrically, that I have been letting other people’s music instrumentals inspire me.”

Celeb Secrets: If you weren’t doing music, do you know if you would be into any other things or considering another career?

Brooke Hummel: “I would love to be a nutritionist or a personal trainer if I wasn’t doing music :)”

Celeb Secrets: What is your biggest fashion mistake growing up?

Brooke Hummel: “I used to want to wear neon color everything… it was a mess! So glad someone stopped me, hahah!”

Celeb Secrets: If you could write a song for any artist, who would it be?

Brooke Hummel: “I would write for Ed Sheeran, I’m in love with his voice, and honestly hearing him sing something that I wrote…I would be in heaven.”

Celeb Secrets: Any new projects you would like to share with us?

Brooke Hummel: “We have a lot of fun events, new music and maybe a couple fun collabs coming up soon 🙂 We have to keep it under wraps, but trust me its killing me not being able to tell everyone!”

Celeb Secrets: We are Celeb Secrets, any secret you would like to share with us?

Brooke Hummel: “I think a hidden talent of mine is that I’m a really good cook! My family and friends always make me cook for them because I just have a knack for it!”
