In 2014, you’ve heard the name Shawn Mendes for the first time… and CelebSecrets4U is certain this name will be one to remember.
A self-taught musician, singer, and songwriter, this Canadian sensation, much like the Biebs, began promoting his talents by doing covers on Youtube. This led to the discovery of one of Island Def Jam’s newest and most promising recording artists, and CelebSecrets4U was invited to NYC for the first official listening of Shawn’s first EP!
Were given the opportunity along with Shawn’s friends, family, as well as those who helped him with the album, to listen to his four song EP before the general public. Shawn even treated us to a to-die-for acoustic live performance of his first hit single “Life of the Party!”
The songs off of his EP were super light and catchy, making us feel like we were listening to a young Bruno Mars intertwined with Maroon 5 and Jason Mraz. Along with ‘Life of the Party,’ the other songs include ‘Show You,’ ‘One of Those Nights,’ and ‘The Weight.’ One of the songs on the EP was written one hundred percent by Mendes, and is actually the song that got him signed by the iconic Def Jam, which houses today’s biggest stars such as Kanye West, Big Sean, Iggy Izalea, and Rihanna.
A true sweetheart, in simple jeans and a white T shirt, at a mere 15 years old, this Canadian native promises to be doing great things and this is just the beginning.
