New Politics – the Danish-American band – released the official music video for their current single “West End Kids” off of their forthcoming album, VIKINGS. The video, directed by Scranton, follows the band on a videogame inspired quest to save their girlfriends from evil henchmen comprised of DCD2 Records labelmates Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco, Travie McCoy, MAX, and LOLO.
Bringing to life the band’s favorite videogames of the 90s and 2000s – New Politics find themselves transported to various levels of competition with artists turned villains in the worlds of Mortal Kombat, Grand Theft Auto, Street Fighter, The Legend of Zelda, Goldeneye and more.
As a bonus treat, New Politics also have a dedicated website, westendkidsgame.com, with extras for fans where entering a “Konami Code” will activate a free download to the 8-bit version of “West End Kids.” The code is up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a.
Vikings, out August 14, is the third full-length album and first for DCD2 Records/Warner Bros. Records for the members of New Politics—David Boyd [lead vocals, guitar], Søren Hansen [bass, guitar, keys, programming] who came to Brooklyn via Denmark, and NY native Louis Vecchio [drums]. The band’s current single, “West End Kids,” reached the Top 30 Alternative chart in its first weeks and is steadily climbing. Vikings is a follow up to the band’s A Bad Girl in Harlem, which spawned the commercial knockout, “Harlem,” landing on multiple trailers for the film Frozen as well as garnering placements for “America’s Got Talent,” Microsoft, and Taco Bell.
This fall New Politics and Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness will co-headline The Wilderness Politics Tour with Australian indie band The Griswolds and up-and-coming singer/songwriter, LOLO performing as special guests.
