The 49th Annual CMA Awards are right around the corner!

When Kelsea Ballerini and Steven Tyler announced the nominees for the show on Good Morning America on Sept. 9, we knew we were in for a good show. The show never disappoints with amazing performances from reigning superstars and up-and-comers. Plus, we all love the one-liners and zingers Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood dish out during their opening monologue. Needless to say, it’s going to be a fantastic night, which got us thinking — what are some of the best CMA Award show moments over the last couple of years? Here’s a list of the 10 best moments at the CMA Awards over the last five years:

Best Win

In our opinion, Taylor Swift deserves every award, which is why we were so happy that the prestigious Pinnacle Award was bestowed upon our angel. The only other time the award had ever been presented was to Garth Brooks in 2005. She kind of made history as the first woman and the youngest person to ever receive the award. NBD.

Best Dressed

Best Collaboration

We are all about Little Big Town. We love their sound and their vibe and they always put on a great performance, so we were surprised when Ariana Grande was thrown in the mix. Were we a little concerned about Ariana performing with them? Yes, yes we were. Our first thoughts — can Ariana even day drink? How old is she again? Second thought — she knows this is a country music award show right? Anyway, our concerns were thrown out the window when the 22-year-old (21 at the time, how convenient) really lit up the stage (pun intended). Surprisingly enough, the five sounded pretty amazing together. We wouldn’t hate it if they collabed in the future.

Best Performance

We are suckers for Luke Bryan. That smile and those gyrating hips get us every time. His performance of “Drink A Beer” at the 2013 CMA Awards completely stole the show. He wrote this song about his brother who passed away and he was sending out some crazy deep and emotional vibes. He touched our hearts and we all felt for him in that moment. That’s all anyone can ask for from the music they love.

Best Surprise Appearance

We’re not quite sure what Brad and Carrie were thinking when they brought the Robertsons from Duck Dynasty out on stage. Not only were they on stage, but they were twerkin’ on stage. It was definitely a shock to everyone. Come on Brad and Carrie, no one wanted to see that! We’ve been scarred for life.

Best Opening Monologue

It’s almost impossible to choose our favorite opening monologue with Brad and Carrie. They’re just too good.

But if we had to choose one, it would be in 2014 when Carrie revealed the gender of her baby to Brad and then he revealed it to the world.

That’s a pretty epic baby gender reveal.

Best Tear-Jerking Acceptance Speech

bla
Blake Shelton and his ex-wife Miranda Lambert won the CMA Award for Song of the Year in 2012 for Miranda’s single “Over You,” written about Blake’s older brother who died in a car accident. In his acceptance speech, Blake said, “I lost my brother in a car wreck when I was 14 years old, and later in life when I decided I wanted to be a country singer, my dad always told me, ‘Son, you should write a song about your brother. I lost my dad in January, and it’s so amazing to me that tonight, even after he’s gone, he’s still right.” BRB, still crying after all of these years!

Best Bro Hug

It doesn’t even matter why or how this happened. We’re just glad it did. We would also give anything to be a part of this Luke Bryan/Zac Brown sandwich. Anything.

Best Awkward Moment

For some reason, the Country Music Association thought it would be a good idea to invite Tim Tebow to the party. He presented the award for Song of the Year, announcing Kacey Musgraves as the winner. As Kacey made her way to the stage, Tim, the good Christian that he is, put his hand out for Kacey to grab in case she needed help walking up all those steps in heels. Well, Kacey didn’t need any help because she’s a strong and independent woman and Tim was left looking like an idiot as she walked right by. AWKWARD!

Best Facial Expression

Kacey3

Sorry Kacey Musgraves, but this is a face we can never forget. Kacey didn’t win Female Vocalist of the Year at the 2013 CMAs, and unfortunately, the camera caught her disappointment. She handled it like a pro saying it was just the wrong face at the wrong time. No hard feelings! Maybe next time she should have T-Swift on speed dial?

The 49th Annual CMA Awards airs Wednesday, November 4th @ 8PM ET/PT on ABC.
