The first Kid’s Choice EVER in 1988

Once upon a time, three very creative men named Alan Goodman, Albie Hecht and Fred Seibert came together to create a show that gave kids the power to vote and ultimately choose the outcome for once. Since its debut in 1988, the show has since changed from “The Big Ballot” to its current name, Kids’ Choice Awards. The rest is history! Here’s a clip of the first KCAs opener!

Whitney Houston’s powerhouse performance of “I’m Every Woman” in 1996

One of the industry’s most legendary vocalist not only performed, but Whitney Houston also hosted the Kids’ Choice Awards twice in 1995 and 1996. Oh how we wish we could have witnessed this performance in person.

When The First Lady presented T-Swift with the Big Help Award in 2012

In 2009, Kid’s Choice featured a new award called “The Big Green Help Award”. Since then, it’s recipients have included many big names including our girl Taylor Swift. Swift was presented the coveted award back in 2012 from none other than Michelle Obama herself! Talk about #squadgoals!

5 Seconds of Slime

Last year’s KCAs brought in many show-stopping moments, but none of them compare to 5SOS’ debut performance. The Aussie boys closed out the 2015 show with their version of The Romantics’ What I Like Bout You and I may or may not be guilty of replaying it 100 times. But can you really blame me? I mean even drenched in slime, Calum Hood is still bae.

Ariana Grande’s awesome “Rugrats” Chanel purse

We didn’t think we could love Ariana Grande any harder, but it looks like we’re wrong! Ariana completely stole our hearts and the Best Dressed award with this fun little number at the 2013 KCAs.

Will Smith is still KCAs reigning champion

Everyone knows Bel-Air’s freshest prince is insanely talented, but I bet you didn’t know Will Smith is KCAs reigning champ! With a whopping 10 awards to his name, Smith is the only person to receive that many blimps. Amaze-balls!

When the Jonas Brothers made us say SOS in 2009

Remember that time when the Jonas Brothers “burned up” the stage in 2009? Good times, good times. Although it’s uncertain if the other Jo-Bros will be attending this year, we’re super ecstatic to see Joe Jonas hit the stage again, but this time with his new band DNCE!
