Hey Hunger Games Fans We’ve got some Hunger Games scoop! Francis Lawrence who is currently on location directing Lionsgate’s much-anticipated sequel, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. We have now learned that Francis will not only be the director for Catching Fire, but has now also been hired to direct the two-part adaptation of Mockingjay, which will be the final installments in the series!
Back in July, Lionsgate announced that they would be splitting the final book from Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games trilogy, Mockingjay, into two films, following in the footsteps of other blockbuster franchise book-based movies like Twilight and Harry Potter. After the huge success from the first movie, The Hunger Games, Lionsgate decided to green light the sequels. Now Francis Lawrence has been hired to direct the remaining three parts of The Hunger Games, which has writer Danny Strong working on the script. The Main Cast Members from the original film have all signed on to reprise their roles in the remain three films. With each of the remaining flicks coming out one year after the other, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire hits theaters November 22, 2013, with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is set to hit theaters November 21st, 2014; and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 scheduled for a November 20th, 2015 release.
