Freeform is proving mermaids are real in their newest series Siren!
Announced at the network’s upfront presentation in New York City, Siren, takes us inside Bristol Cove — a coastal town known for its legend of once being home to mermaids. When the arrival of a mysterious girl proves his folklore all too true, the battle between man and sea takes a very vicious turn as these predatory beings return to reclaim their right to the ocean.
The series, set to premiere in summer 2018, stars Alex Roe (The 5th Wave) as Ben, a bright marine biologist who finds himself drawn to Ryn, a mysterious girl played by Eline Powell (Game of Thrones), who is a strange young woman with a deep dark secret.
Celeb Secrets had the opportunity to chat with Roe on the red carpet at the Upfronts, where he gave us a little tease about the series and reveal an interesting behind-the-scenes secret about filming in the water.
“When you see my character jump into the water, it may look like its outside. What people don’t know is we only shoot half of it outside,” Roe told Celeb Secrets.
“When I am jumping into the ocean, I really am jumping into the ocean, however, inside the water is shot in this tank. So any of the scenes that we are under water are in a huge tank the size of this room we are in right now. It’s actually a lot of funt,” he added.
