Remember the band Rooney?! They’ve opened up for so many artists like Kelly Clarkson, the Jonas Brothers, and MORE! I had the chance to sit down and talk to and member Ned Brower, where he talks about life in Germany, upcoming projects, and JOE JONAS!
Why don’t you tell me a little bit about your band, Rooney?
Rooney is a 5 man rock band from Los Angeles, California. Robert, Taylor and Louie knew each other in high school and I met the band through mutual friends in the band Phantom Planet. Brandon was in a great band called Castledoor from la and joined Rooney when Matt left the band last year.
If you could categorize your genre, what category would it fall under?
Rock. Many people refer to us as “Power Pop” but for me, that term has become polluted and confused over the past 10 years. It used to mean “trying to sound like The Beatles with some Who riffs and Beach Boys harmonies thrown in.” I love all that. Now it means “goofy ass songs with distorted guitars one fingered synthesizer parts.”
I hear you’re in Germany! How is that going for you and what’s the experience like!?
We just arrived. I love it here. It’s a great place. Taylor, Brandon and I just had about 8 shots of Yaeger and some Pilsners. It’s snowing out….Merry Christmas.
Lets talk tour, any fun tour memories?
Every day is fun but it hard to summarize into a quick sound bite. It is our life after all. I love the adventure and meeting new people.
Any possible FUTURE collaborations with Joe Jonas?
No.
Are you in the works of a new album/single?
We have a new single called “Holdin’ On” coming out next year. We just finished shooting a video for the song in a national forest in southern California. The video is based on a lot of old 60s promo clips and I’m very excited about it. It should be coming out early next year.
Since our website is all about secrets, why dont you tell us a secret about yourself?!
I never tell a secret. That is my thing. I’m like a swiss bank account. Nice try.
