Here’s Everything You Need to Know Before Watching the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards Tonight

The 2016 MTV Video Music Awards are only a few hours away and Celeb Secrets has everything you need to know about it before you watch.

The music industry’s finest are expected to walk the red carpet, so prepare yourselves for a lot of slaying and amazing outfits. The red carpet will also feature the 2016 MTV VMA Pre-Show which kicks off at 8PM ET. Alessia Cara will perform a medley of her hit singles, “Wild Things” and “Scars To Your Beautiful,” and will be joined by Troye Sivan for their remix of his smash hit “Wild.” Jidenna, is set to get the crowd moving with the infectious beats of his summer smash, “Little Bit More,” and “Best New Artist” nominee Lukas Graham will show off their mix of soul-infused pop by closing the pre-show with a performance of their current hit single, “Mama Said.” Additionally, global hit-making producer, recording artist and social media mogul, DJ Khaled, will host the hour-long pre-show alongside MTV2’s Uncommon Sensestar, Charlamagne Tha God, and hip hop artist, Lizzo, from MTV’s upcoming live music series, Wonderland.

Beyoncé, Adele, Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Calvin Harris, and Fifth Harmony were among the many artists that scored nominations at the show this evening, and tonight we will finally find out who will win. You can read our predictions for every category by clicking here.

Tonight’s show is also making history. The VMAs are taking place at Madison Square Garden for the first time, Rihanna is receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, AND Britney Spears will be performing on a VMA stage for the first time in TEN years. Did we mention producers are giving Kanye West four minutes to do whatever he wants on stage? Talk about an epic show.

Additional performances throughout the evening include duets from Britney Spears and G-Eazy, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj, The Chainsmokers and Halsey, and Nick Jonas and Ty Dolla $ign.

The star-studded lineup keeps getting larger as Olympic gymnasts Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas, Laurie Hernandez, Madison Kocian, and Aly Raisman, Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Ansel Elgort, Jimmy Fallon, Fifth Harmony, Kim Kardashian, Alicia Keys, Tove Lo, Shameik Moore, Rita Ora, Bebe Rexha, and Jaden Smith are confirmed to present the winners their coveted moon man.
