Last time fans saw Ben Wheeler, he stood outside Zoey’s door, professing his love, right at the moment Zoey’s ex appeared from behind.
Now, in the second half of the fifth season of Baby Daddy, fans will get to see Ben try to save face with Zoey after discovering that her ex has returned to get back together with her.
Celeb Secrets spoke with Jean-Luc Bilodeau, who plays Ben Wheeler, to get the scoop on what we can expect from Ben this season and the rest of the characters. He also talked to us about working with Sura and Kayleigh Harris, who play his daughter Emma, his travel plans while on hiatus and the hilarious face that his co-star Chelsea Kane likes to make on set, so make sure you check out our exclusive Q&A below!

Celeb Secrets:Â Baby Daddy starts back up next week, so what can you tell us about the new episode?
Jean-Luc Bilodeau: “We start off right where we left off in the spring finale. Ben has just professed his love for Zoey just as her son’s father comes out of nowhere, kind of let’s Ben down a bit. Danny and Riley are on the rocks. Danny had slept with Sam in high school and Riley’s now making him pay for it since he lied to her about it. I think she’s being a little crazy but that’s just me, and then Bonnie and Brad are picking up right where we left off, you know, up and down. Typical Bonnie and Brad. Everyone’s relationship is a little discombobulated, but like any other season, we’ve always managed to figure it out and put everyone back together.”
Celeb Secrets: Did you feel like that was a big deal for Ben to finally admit to Zoey that he wanted to commit to her?Â
Jean-Luc Bilodeau: “Yeah, Ben doesn’t do that often, so you know, when he does, you know it means something to him. It’s a very genuine love. I think he was a bit fallen in the fact that he was let down. I think that he’ll probably, he’ll let himself suffer for a little while I think and then he’ll move on and get back on the horse and try to find someone else, but I’m hoping he realizes that he doesn’t need anyone. He just needs his daughter.”
Celeb Secrets:Â Can we expect anything else to happen with Sam or has that ship sailed?
Jean-Luc Bilodeau:Â “The ship is still there. He’s going to dabble a little bit because now he is kind of single and you know needs to move on, so whether she sticks around or peters out, you know, if he just uses her as kind of a trial thing and tries to date her and, you know, if he doesn’t work out, it doesn’t work out, if it does, it does. I’m not really allowed to say if it works out or not. I’m not gonna not tell you that he tries for Sam, I mean, she’s a gorgeous girl and she’s cool and she likes him.”
Celeb Secrets:Â What else can fans expect from the second half of this season? Will it mostly be focused on these relationships?
Jean-Luc Bilodeau: “You know, it’s hard because it’s a sitcom, so every episode has its own different challenges and every character has his or her own solution that they need to find, so yeah, we focus on this relationship stuff for a little while. It’s our A plot of the show. There’s that and all the underlying problems that come with it and just all the randomness that our show or our characters get into, all the sticky situations they get themselves into. This whole season is a typical Baby Daddy season. We want the laughs, so just tune in.”
Celeb Secrets: Do you have a particular storyline that you’re excited for fans to see?Â
Jean-Luc Bilodeau: “Yeah, I think that just Ben finding himself and becoming a man and running a bar. I’ve never been more in love with Ben than I am this season. I think it’s a really cool side of Ben that you haven’t really seen before. He’s manning up and becoming a man. It’s just a cool transition from season 1 Ben. I think you’re seeing most of that transition just from the last few episodes, so I’m just excited for fans to be along for that ride.”
Celeb Secrets: How has it been working with Sura and Kayleigh now that they’re getting older?Â
Jean-Luc Bilodeau: “Kayleigh and Sura are so incredible. Our twins are absolutely phenomenal. This is the closest I’ve ever been to the girls on the show just because they are a little older now. They remember who I am. We have a relationship. We’ve built a relationship over the last couple of years of working with these kids and we love the family too, so it’s great, and they’re amazing kids, really, I’m not just saying that. I’m not a huge fan of kids, so to say that, they’ve got to be pretty amazing, and they are. It doesn’t want me to have kids any time sooner, but it’s a lot of fun working with them. They’re a joy to work with.”
Celeb Secrets: Besides Baby Daddy, do you have any other projects you’re working on?
Jean-Luc Bilodeau: “No. I’m in the middle of writing and slowly starting to produce my own stuff, and yeah, that’s about it. I usually take my hiatuses from the show to travel, so I’m going to be doing that for the next couple of months and then back to work, hopefully, in August on Baby Daddy and then we’ll see. I like to feel very open to do anything really. I mean, yes, I would take a job in a heartbeat, but I’m just chilling right now. Good times.â€
Celeb Secrets: Where do you plan on traveling?
Jean- Luc Bilodeau: “I’m going to Spain. I fly out June 13th for two months. I’m going to Spain, Portugal, South of France, just backpacking.â€
Celeb Secrets:Â Since we are Celeb Secrets, can you tell us a behind-the scenes secret while filming the fifth season?
Jean-Luc Bilodeau: “Chelsea does a duck face, in the mirror, for like, she’ll just hold it for like 15 minutes straight, staring at herself. It’s the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. She’ll hold it while she’s getting her makeup done and it doesn’t fade. It’s just hardcore duck face and I don’t think she’s told anyone that. I don’t think anyone’s really made fun of her for that, so there it is. There’s the big secret (laughs).â€
