Jena Rose Opens Up About Being on Her First Major Tour with Echosmith – Exclusive

Jena Rose has come such a long way since we first met her in 2016. The 17-year-old released her first EP, Reasons, and played shows alongside acts like Sabrina Carpenter, Why Don’t We, and R5!

This year in particular has been breakthrough one for Rose. On top of releasing Reasons EP, Jena scored a spot on Echosmith‘s Inside a Dream Tour which has been stopping at venues across the country brining in nearly sold-out crowds.

“This tour [with Echosmith] is the longest one I’ve been on and it’s a really big deal. Definitely a step up from what I’ve done and I’m growing so much,” the 17-year-old told us in between shows in New York City. “I’ve been a fan of Echosmith for a while, too. ‘Cool Kids’ is definitely an anthem and their other songs are really awesome so it’s really cool to tour with them.”

Celeb Secrets met up with Jena for an afternoon full of sweets in between shows in New York City to get the scoop on her live performance, hitting the road with her boyfriend drummer Hunter Knoche, and seeing all parts of the US and Canada in an RV.

Make sure to catch the last night of Echomsith’s Inside a Dream Tour with Jena Rose at The Fonda Theater in Los Angeles this Saturday, May 12th. For ticket information, visit Ticketmaster.com as there are VERY few tickets left!

Celeb Secrets: What’s it like stepping in to your set on the Inside A Dream Tour?

Jena Rose: “I try to mix it up and play piano for some songs and then do tracks to get the crowd involved. So there’s a lot crowd interaction with singing, hands up, and clapping. It’s super fun.”

CS: What’s been the “fan favorite” at each show?

JR: “Fans have been really enjoying my song called ‘Love.’ I did this big hands up thing and everyone goes crazy during it. It has to be mine and the fans’ favorite moment at each show.”

CS: You said you were living in an RV for this whole tour run. So how’s that been — living in an RV?

JR: “RV life is very different from normal life. You’ve got to just plan everything, like brushing your teeth or washing your face or taking a shower since you don’t have access to water all the time.”

CS: If you had to make a survival kit for living in an RV, what would it include?

JR: “Definitely water bottles. It sounds weird, but we have to use water bottles as sink water when we’re brushing our teeth and washing our face because we run out of tank water so fast.”

CS: Your boyfriend is on the road with you as your drummer! How’s that experience been?

JR: “It’s so fun. We always wanted to travel together, so it’s been such an awesome experience. We went out in Seattle to one of the piers where they had with a ferris wheel and it was such a fun night. Hunter also just got into vlogging, so he brought his camera and we are going to do a whole vlog on it.”

CS: You released your new EP this year that features your latest single “Reasons.” Take us inside the process of making it.

JR: “My EP is named after this song. I write all of my songs on the piano in my bedroom and then I send the to my producer and he had the idea to make this song guitar driven. It gives an “Issues” by Julia Michaels vibe and I absolutely love it.”

CS: Is this kind of like the next step for what’s next in the upcoming music?

JR: “Yes. The EP is a variety of different songs and stories, but I think I’ll definitely continue to experiment with different sounds in the studio and the ways I write.”

CS: And where do you draw your inspiration?

JR: “Since I’m only 17, I haven’t been through everything so I take inspiration from, you know, my experiences, other people’s experiences, things that I witnessed around me. Also like movies and TV shows and stuff like that.”

What else do you want to accomplish this year?

JR: “I want to keep writing, recording, doing more performances and, of course arranging meetups with my fans. It’s crazy to think that so many people follow me on social media and listen to my music. It’s still a ‘pinch me’ moment.”
