Canvas Media Studios, a digital studio launched by two-time Emmy Award winning creator Bernie Su and David Tochterman, one of the first television executives to turn to digital media, has closed a development deal with actress Jennette McCurdy to develop scripted series that can live across multiple platforms.

“We are looking forward to working with Jennette who has developed a devoted social following and is now looking for opportunities to engage with her fans in different ways.  Jennette is a perfect example of how Canvas plans to approach working with talent,” said Tochterman, co-founder Canvas Media Studios.

“She is a very funny, talented artist with the right voice to connect with the Gen Z audience, which is why we are excited to be collaborating with her to develop new projects,” added Su, co-founder Canvas Media Studios.

An actress, screenwriter and producer, McCurdy is best known for her comedic portrayal of Sam Puckett on the mega-hit Nickelodeon series iCarly and Sam & Cat, McCurdy can currently be seen in the second season of the popular Netflix/Rogers Media drama series Between.

In addition, McCurdy has lead roles in two upcoming films, the psychological thriller Pet, in which she stars opposite Dominic Monaghan and the comedy Little Bitches, opposite Kiersey Clemons. She will also lend her voice to an upcoming episode of Robot Chicken. Other recent work includes guest-star roles on the popular IFC series The Birthday Boys and Comedy Bang Bang.

“Working with Bernie and David will enable me to connect more creatively with my fans,” said McCurdy.  “They understand better than anyone how to tell stories that take advantage of social platforms which is why I’m thrilled to be working with Canvas Media Studios.”
