Jennifer Lopez Brings Down the House with Epic VMAs Performance and Accepts Video Vanguard Award

Last night, global Latin powerhouse Jennifer Lopez received the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards.

The singer/actress/producer and everything in between shut down the show with a killer performance featuring her greatest hits and a few special guests giving us ALL the 90s ‘On the 6’ vibes.

Donning head-to-toe Versace pieces, J.Lo brought out DJ Khaled and Ja Rule to help her perform mash-ups of fan favorites “Waiting for Tonight,” “On the Floor,” Dance Again,” “Ain’t Your Mama,” “Love Don’t Cost A Thing,” “Get Right,” “Jenny From The Block,” “I’m Real,” “Ain’t It Funny,” and “Dinero.”

The performance brought a standing ovation from the crowd, Lopez’s family, twins Max and Emme, and boyfriend, Alex Rodridguez. Watch it below!

The Video Vanguard Award, which honors artists who have achieved remarkable milestones in their career, was first introduced in 1984 and later renamed for King of Pop, Michael Jackson in 1991. While Lopez joins honorees Justin Timberlake, Janet Jackson, Kanye West, and Madonna, to name a few, she marks yet another milestone in her career, as Lopez is the first Latin artist to receive the honor.

“Music, acting, performing — this career has always been an obsession for me. When people have said, ‘You’re doing too much, you can only do one thing,’ I was always a person who was like, ‘Why not?’ I kind of had to forge my own path and rules,” she said during her acceptance speech.

In addition to the milestone award, Lopez also took home a moon person for her song “Dinero,” with Cardi B and DJ Khaled.
