One of our new favorite boy bands Citizen Four released their new single “Testify” last week and we can’t get enough of it!
The guys — Josh Levi, Austin Percario, Carson Boatman, and Conner Boatman — have been working hard in the studio on new music and it definitely shows in “Testify.”
“‘Testify’ is our first official single; it’s about being accused of disloyalty and a declaration of allegiance,” band member and former X Factor contestant Josh Levi tells us exclusively. “Sonically, we think it blends all of our individual tastes and styles, and it is also something that feels authentic to us as a modern band.”
“When we first heard this song being written for us, I immediately knew this song would be something I would fall in love with performing,” he continued. “As an artist, I am most in love with the experience of translating what we have in mind as artists, into the minds of the world or other people. For this reason, everyone knew right away that an exciting song like “Testify” would be an awesome and strong introduction to us as a band.”
While it is the band’s debut single, “Testify” is the follow-up to their first original song “Cold” that was released last year. Although the band has not been together long, Levi feels “Testify” still shows extreme growth for the guys’ music. “As a band, I think we have made a stronger connection, not only with ourselves, but with our music and our fans and our artistry between “Cold” and “Testify”,” he says. “As a result of performing “Testify” on tour with Sabrina Carpenter, we became more unified and certain of what we want to achieve musically and artistically.”
The guys have received nothing but love and support from their fans as the song made an appearance on the iTunes pop chart upon its release. Levi says that he, Austin, Carson, and Conner do plan to “release a new song every couple of months this year, as they have so so so much music to share and release, leading up to a potential album.”
