Lady Gaga & Tony Bennett to Release “Cheek To Cheek” on September 23, 2014 (@ladygaga)

Interscope Bennett And GagaThe long-awaited collaborative jazz album from Lady Gagaand Tony Bennett,Cheek To Cheek, will bereleased on Streamline/Columbia/Interscope Records onTuesday, September 23.The first taste of this new music isthe classic Cole Porter song, “Anything Goes”, available today on iTunes (iTunes.com/CheekToCheek) andother digital retailers.Anaccompanying studio video featuring “Anything Goes” and footage from therecordingsessions and moments during the making ofCheek to Cheekis currentlyavailable on YouTube and VEVO.Cheek to Cheekrepresents acollaboration between two legendary musical artists spanning the generations tocelebrate jazz music.

Cheek To Cheekfeatures classic jazz standardssung by Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett in acombination of vocal duets and soloperformances.Each song was handpicked by the artists, and the album features classic selections from the GreatAmerican Songbook including “Anything Goes,” “It Don’t Mean A Thing (If ItAin’t Got That Swing),” “Sophisticated Lady,” ”Lush Life,” and therecord’s title track, “Cheek To Cheek.” Recorded in New York City, the recordtook over a year to complete and features jazz musicians associated with bothartists including members of Bennett’s quartet, Mike Renzi, Gray Sargent,Harold Jones and Marshall Wood as well pianist Tom Lanier.Jazz trumpeterBrian Newman, along-time friend and colleague of Lady Gaga appears on the album as well withhis NYC based jazz quintet. Jazz soloists on selected tracksinclude tenorsaxophonist Joe Lovano and flutist Paul Horn, who passed away earlier thismonth.

Of this new project LadyGaga commented, “Cheek To Cheek came out of a very organic friendship andrelationship that Tony and I have built over the years andit truly was a collaborative effort. It was important to Tony that this was ajazz record. I’ve been singingjazzsince I was a child and really wanted to show the authentic side of the genre. We made an album of jazzclassics, but it has a moderntwist.”

Photographer Steven Kleincontributed the photographs and spearheaded the artistic design for the albumpackaging as well as for the firstofficial image released fromCheek To Cheek,which is featured on the “Anything Goes”cover art.

Tony Bennett and Lady Gagafirst met backstage in 2011 after the two performed at the Robin HoodFoundation gala in New York City andBennett asked Lady Gaga to sing a duetwith him on his DUETS II album that he was beginning to record. ”The Lady is A Tramp” was theresult of that endeavor and conversations began about collaborating on a jazzproject.Recently, Bennett andGaga surprised the studentbody at Frank Sinatra School of the Arts, a NYCpublic arts high school founded by Tony Bennett, when they spoke and performedfor theschool on the last day of classes in June.Earlier this month, Gaga surprised the Montreal JazzFestival audience by joining Bennett on stagewhen he was performing at thefamed jazz festival.Last night,they taped a television special that will air on PBS later this fall. The twoappeared this morning on the TODAY SHOW to official announce CHEEK TO CHEEK.
