Almost every store will be reducing prices and hosting sales that will have you shelling out money like it’s nothing. But before you start making it rain on the clearance rack, you might want to check out our top 5 tips that could help you gain more bang for your buck.
1) If it isn’t broken, don’t replace it.
Everyone wants that new Samsung Curved TV or that new fridge to hold your Thanksgiving leftovers. Unfortunately, these appliances just aren’t meant to be bought on THIS holiday. Experts say to wait until Black Friday to make your big purchases. This applies to online shopping as well. If you were to buy a new TV online today (ex. Amazon) they won’t give you free shipping, whereas on Black Friday, they will.
2) Sometimes newer isn’t always better.
Yes, I understand that you just have to have the new iPhone 6S (even though you just purchased your iPhone 6 less than 8 months ago), but you’re going to want to hold on to your “ancient” phone a little longer. Prices today won’t be as low as they will be after Thanksgiving, so when you’re raiding the mall later today, go for older items rather than newer ones. You and your wallet will thank us later.
3) Security is key.
Both online shopping and physical shopping have their share of risks, but that shouldn’t get in between you and that new leather handbag you’ve been eyeing. The key is be safe and smart about it. Credit cards nowadays have an EMV chip embedded into them to help protect you from thieves. If you don’t have it yet, I highly recommend that you get one ASAP. Also, try to use outlets such as PayPal which don’t require your credit card information. If your info isn’t out there somewhere in the worldwide web, you won’t be at risk for fraud. Remember kids, safety first!
4) Time to unleash your couponing beast!
Whether you’re an extreme couponer or you just cut them occasionally, we all have some lying around. Use them today! Pretty soon they will expire and all those hours of countless cutting will have been for nothing. You’re probably saying, “It’s not going to change the price much,” but if you really sit down and do the math, you’d be amazed by how much of a difference it can make!
5) Be smart and take advantage of today!
If you’re in the service, take advantage of it! Veterans and current men/women in the service get discounts all throughout the day so don’t be afraid to use them! Today is a day to celebrate YOU! If you aren’t a veteran or in the service, don’t worry! There are many sales going on all around us, you just have to be on the lookout for the best ones!
