Lily Collins & Barbara Streisand: Van Gogh Museum Unveiling (#LilyCollins #BarbaraStreisand)

image002Barbara Streisand and Lily Collins attend the U.S. premiere of the Van Gogh Museum Editions at the 19th Annual LA Art Show held at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Wednesday morning (January 15th).

The stars posed with family representative Willem Van Gogh & Van Gogh Museum Director Axel Rüger.

The collection making its U.S. debut includes:  Sunflowers (1889), Almond Blossoms (1890), Boulevard de Clichy (1887), The Harvest (1888), and Wheatfield under Thunderclouds (1890).

Willem van Gogh, the great, great grandson of Theo van Gogh (Vincent’s brother) and advisor to the Van Gogh Museum board was in LA to support the museum’s efforts to carry on Vincent’s legacy. Each piece in the Van Gogh Museum Edition is virtually identical to the original Van Gogh painting that is hanging in the museum, which will never be sold.

This innovative new technology, known as Reliefography was developed by Fujifilm Belgium.  The state of the art process combines a precise three-dimensional edition of the original painting’s actual surface texture with a high-resolution print.  Each piece is produced as a limited edition of 260, which includes imaging of both the front and back of the painting, as well as a museum quality frame.  The entire production process is subject to strict quality control procedures that are managed and overseen by the curator from the Van Gogh Museum and experts from Fujifilm Belgium. Fifty pieces will be retained by the Van Gogh Museum to be used for educational purposes and plans are in development to provide a new way for blind and visually impaired people to experience art.

Show visitors were the first in the nation to see the results of this break-through technology in person and discuss it directly with representatives from the Van Gogh Museum, Fujifilm Belgium and Tribute International.
