Lin-Manuel Miranda and Ben Platt Team Up For “Found/Tonight”

What happens when two Broadway legends come together to make a powerful statement through their music? When it’s Lin-Manuel Miranda and Ben Platt, you know it’s something beautiful: and the source of my Monday morning cry.

The Hamilton creator and Dear Evan Hansen performer joined up their incredible talents to create the song “Found/Tonight,” which is a poetic mash-up of “The Story of Tonight” from Hamilton and “You Will Be Found,” from DEH. Of course, the guys could just do something like this because it’s a blessed treat to the ears. But the reason why they came together on this track is to support March For Our Lives, the upcoming national gun violence and school safety protests organized by students and supporters. So, proceeds from this track’s downloads are going directly to the cause – and the song’s message is going straight to our hearts.

“In the wake of Parkland, I was awestruck by the strength and leadership of the students and their ability to speak truth to power,” Lin-Manuel Miranda shared  in a press statement. “In the midst of their grief, they mobilized the youth of our nation and created a movement. This is their moment. Not just for themselves, but for all of us. This song is my way of helping to raise funds and awareness for their efforts, and to say Thank You, and that we are with you so let’s keep fighting, together.”

“Better gun control is something that all Americans should be passionate about,” Ben Platt added. “These students are paving the way for future generations and it’s so inspiring to see young people standing up for what is probably the most important cause right now in this country, and demanding action. I hope that this song can play some small part in bringing about real change.”

The words in the inspiring mash-up come together in an almost eerily perfect soundtrack to the movement. You’ll want it on repeat for the rest of the year, at the very least.

Check out the official “Found/Tonight” music video, which features the guys in the recording studio together, above, and make sure to leave us your thoughts below. To support the cause, download the song on your vendor of choice!
