We haven’t given you our daily Q&A’s lately, so now its time to catch up! Today we have an exclusive with Fearless Records’ band called Sparks the Rescue.
Take one mic-swinging vocalist who throws himself to the floor, the crowd, the walls, and into his band mates. Add two guitarists providing vocals and an insane amount of movement as they shred and toss their instruments around with guided precision. Top off with a bassist with an impressive set of lungs providing screams, and a rock-solid drummer holding it all down. This concoction renders Sparks The Rescue, a group of guys in their early 20’s from Portland, Maine.
Logging in over 200 shows throughout New England, Sparks The Rescue has shared the stage with Hawthorne Heights, Just Surrender, As Tall As Lions, Dave Melillo, Roses Are Red, A Change of Pace, Showbread, Chiodos, A Static Lullaby, Saosin, Boys Night Out, Stretch Arm Strong, Emanuel, The Static Age, Glory Of This, and plenty more.
Vocalist Alex Roy took time out of his busy schedule to have a quick interview with us! Check out what it was like for the band to win MTV’s Battle of the Bands 2009…
CelebSecrets4U: What was it like to compete and win Garnier / MTV’s Battle of the Bands 2009?
Alex: “It was a dream come true! We got to Fly out to LA for the Garnier Commercial shot, stay in The Standard hotel which was the nicest hotels we’ve ever seen. Besides the fact that the shower and bathroom walls were made of glass! It’s was nice to watch everyone shower LOL. Winning was the cherry on top, we walked the red carpet at the Woodie Awards and rub shoulders with some famous and seriously cool artists. It was something I know we will never forget.”
Alex: “It would have to be Blink 182 – the first time I heard them I knew I wanted to be in a band, i wanted to be just like them. There videos we’re hilarious and there songs sounded like I could pick up a guitar and play them.. which I did but took some time!”
Alex: “Alexis Bledel! I always liked Gilmore Girls, we played NYC about two years ago and I was walking around with my dad and she walked right by us. I meant to say something even a simple, “hey” but all I could do was stare, so lame.”
Alex: “Favorite traveling meeting new people seeing new places, I love being on the go, I get really antsy being in one spot for to long. Least favorite – missing my friends and family and not sleeping in my own bed every night.”
CelebSecrets4U: What’s in the future for Sparks The Rescue?
Alex: “We have a new record on the way called “Worst Things I’ve Been Cursed With” coming out on Fearless Records in the spring. We will be touring the world, making more music and music videos. The sky’s the limit!”
Alex: “I am pigeon-toed, which means my feet slightly point in… also I have a hitch hiker’s thumb which tends to freak people out…”
