Movie Review: Hallmark Movie and Mysteries’ “Operation Christmas”

There’s no better way to get ready for the holiday season than by sitting on the couch with a blanket, a cup of hot chocolate, and a good Christmas movie.

This afternoon, Celeb Secrets is introducing you to your new favorite (and family-friendly) Christmas movie from the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel –- Operation Christmas.

Operation Christmas follows Olivia Young (Tricia Helfer) raising a family of two kids on her own. Olivia meets Scott (Marc Blucas) on a ski trip with her two kids. They run into each other and hang out after, where Olivia meets Scott’s daughter. The next morning, Scott receives a call that he has to leave for a mission. He leaves the hotel that morning but leaves a note for Olivia. Unfortunately, Olivia never receives the note.

Years pass, Olivia looks happy, and to her surprise Scott is at her work. Olivia works together with Scott on a project called Operation Christmas, which gives back to military families on the base. As they’re working on this project together, you notice the chemistry between these two. Olivia is just afraid to be with Scott because the thought of him deploying at anytime really scares her. Scott’s daughter, his mother, and Olivia’s kids want them to be together more than anything.

Scott gets deployed right before Christmas. Olivia tells him she’s not ready to be in a relationship where she doesn’t even know where he is going be or if he’s okay. Scott ends up leaving, and she is devastated but is trying to act like she doesn’t care. Her sister and others encourage her that she shouldn’t be afraid, and that she’s strong enough to be in a relationship with Scott.

The big show for the Operation Christmas is about to happen and so she focuses on that with decorations and planning. On the day of the big event there, is a HUGE surprise for Olivia. What is that you ask? Well, you’ll have to tune into the movie to find out!

Operation Christmas is filled with emotions that brings laugher, tears, and joy to your hearts — we almost left the theater crying! The film is very relatable to anyone who has loved ones in the military and also raises awareness to families with members in the armed forces. We 10/10 recommend the film, and are positive it will be a tradition to watch moving forward.

Operation Christmas airs on Sunday, Nov 20th @ 9/8c on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. It will be played throughout the month of December on the channel.
