We got the chance to go see the advanced screening of the majorly anticipated Disney film Oz The Great and Powerful! Much like the Wizard of Oz the movie starts in Black and White and has characters that you see later on in the movie as other characters. Also, just like The Wizard of Oz the first turning point in the movie is, of course, the Tornado! Oscar Diggs aka Oz aka The Wizard of Oz (James Franco) gets caught in the Tornado and lands in the Magical far away land of Oz.
Once in Oz everyone knows who he is, and has been anticipating his arrival. Oz is greeted by Theodroa The Good (Mila Kunis) and the two start their adventure to the Emerald City. While on their adventure they see Finley the Flying Monkey (Zach Braff) and Oz saves him, therefore owing him a life debt, the two become the best of friends through this. Once they get to the Emerald City Theodora introduces Oz to her sister Evanora (Rachel Weisz) who shows him the Kingdom and is the Royal Aid. Evanora informs Oz that before he can take the throne he must defect the Evil Wicked Witch. Oz, after much time pondering this takes the offer and goes searching for the Evil Witch.
Oz and Finley follow the Yellow Brick Road to the Evil Witches layer, but along the way find and make a new friend. They find China Girl (Joey King) who has become orphaned, and they take her along for their thrilling ride to find the Evil Witch.
Oz reaches the Evil Witches layer and attempts to defeat her, only to find out, she’s not evil, She Glinda The Good Witch (Michelle Williams). Glinda tells Oz she too has been waiting for him, and that he has been set-up. The true Evil Witch then sends an army after the both of them. Glinda, who always thinks on her feet, sets a plan in motion to get them out of danger.
Oz, Glinda, Finley, and China Girl, all make their way safely back to Munchkinland where Glinda has been exiled, along with her Royal Subjects, The Munchkins, The Tinkers and The Farmers. Here Glinda informs everyone who Oz is, and that they will be defeating the evil witch once and for all. However the Green Witch arrives at Munchkinland makes everyone fearful, but still trustworthy of Glinda and Oz.
After days of planning they round up the troops and make their way to the Emerald City. Their plan to take over begins and the Epic fight scenes begin. However things take a turn for the worst when one of our favorite characters is taken hostage. Fear not, The Wizard of Oz is here to not only level the playing field, but to save the day! With yet another EPIC battle sequence good overcomes evil and triumphs.
The movie was a little dark and twisty at some points, but overall a very good movie, that will keep your attention. I would highly recommended seeing Oz The Great And Powerful in Theaters Everywhere NOW! Oz The great and Powerful gets a 10 out of 10 and an A+ for keeping audiences entertained and excited about being in this amazing new world.
