Looking for new artists to listen to? Who are artists to watch this year? According to MTV, it is Shawn Mendes, Hoodie Allen, Jacquie Lee, MisterWives, and Ryn Weaver. MTV is giving you the opportunity to see them all in concert! You can catch all these artists at the House of Blues Sunset in West Hollywood on February 5 at 6:45.
Shawn Mendes, has been on everyone’s radar since last year, starting on vine and then put out a couple covers on youtube has made the girls go crazy. Now not only is he an artist to watch, but he is going on tour with Taylor Swift! He has an EP on itunes you can purchase called “The Shawn Mendes EP” He loves his fans and have heard nothing but great things about him when it comes to meeting and greeting them. His hit song is “Life of the Party”, catchy and will get stuck in your head.
Hoodie Allen, a rapper who started his career by putting free mixed tapes on the internet for free is now not only selling out shows, but has an album you can purchase in stores or on iTunes called “People Keep Talking.” He has done a ton of collaborations, but the one everyone is buzzing about is the one with Ed Sheeran. Coolest thing about Hoodie? He doesn’t sell meet and greets, he only does free ones, so everyone has an opportunity to meet him! His hit song and now played on the radio is “All About It” featuring Ed Sheeran.
Misterwives, is an indie pop band, who are from New York. It consists of Mandy Lee, Etienne Bowler, William Hehir, Marc Campbell, and Jess Blum. Started off by playing in restaurants are now opening for bands like Twenty One Pilots and are signed to Island Def Jams. They have an EP out called “Reflections” and are releasing a full length album Feb. 02! They’re hit song? “Reflections”.
Jacquie Lee, started singing at a very young and went on to audition for the Voice at the age of 15. She came out getting first-runner up, which is really impressive for a girl her age. She recently signed with Atlantic Records and her deubt song “Broken Ones”, when first released shot up on the top 20 chart on Itunes. Her EP “Broken Ones” is now available.
Ryn Weaver, who’s real name is Aryn Wuthrich, got a lot of attention from not only people on social media, but from other artists. Her song “OctaHate” is a big deal, it can be heard on soundcloud, getting over 300,000 plays in the first week. She was even names one of Billboard’s “Emerging Artists” chart. She is now signed to the indie label “Friends Keep Secrets.”
