Music Monday: Meet April Kry (@AprilKryMusic)

Happy Monday, readers!

Meet our new “Music Monday” artist this week, April Kry.

April Kry is a country singer-songwriter that is ready to take Music City by storm. After releasing her debut EP Music Speaks, the songstress has received major nods in the form of song placement on TV shows such as Love Games on Oxygen and MTV’s The Real World. She also struck up a musical partnership with Javier Colon, who is best known as the winner of The Voice’s first season.

Written by Jennifer Pappas, JP Rende and Kathryn Raio, April’s current single “Fireflies” establishes the next phase of her career. April highlights the significance of the single saying, “It’s a song that describes the feelings of falling in love for the first time, a song about being young, carefree and the ability to completely lose yourself in another person. It’s a time in your life that you will never forget, and something that we can all relate to”. The imagery and romance of the lyrics take listeners back in time to that place where they first found love, and in April’s case,it just happens to be “..on a summer breeze, on a bed of petals ‘neath our Dogwood tree.”

Kry is a finalist in Macy’s iHeartRadio Rising Star competition. The competition features 25 up-and-coming artists that are all vying for a spot to open the 2015 iHeartRadio Music Festival this September at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Now in its fifth year, the iHeartRadio Music Festival is the biggest music festival in radio. The two-day event features a multi-genre mix of superstar performers and again in 2015, the winner of the Macy’s iHeartRadio Rising Star contest.

CS4U caught up with April recently to give you the scoop on this budding artist! In our interview, April talks about the inspiration behind her track “Fireflies,” her normal writing routine, her dream collaboration, and being a finalist in Macy’s iHeartRadio Rising Star competition. She even gives a special message to her fans and tells YOU why you should check out her music! Take a read at the Q&A below.

CS4U: What is the inspiration behind your single, “Fireflies”?

April Kry: “Fireflies paints a picture for the listener of falling in love for the first time. The new memories you make with that special person, and feelings you’ll never forget. I think so many can relate to that!”

CS4U: What is your songwriting and recording process?

April Kry: “When I write, it’s very different each time. That’s what I love about songwriting. You never know how a song is going to come about! Sometimes I have a lyric idea, but other times I’ll be humming a melody and that’s how it all starts. Recording is so much fun because that’s when you really get to make the song your own. I’m very picky when it comes to recording my vocals. I’m a bit of a perfectionist in the studio!!”

CS4U: If you could collaborate with any artist, who would you choose?

April Kry: “That’s a tough one because there are so many artists that have inspired me musically!! If I had to choose one though, it would probably be Martina McBride. She has always stood out among the rest for me.”

CS4U: You’re a part of the iHeartRadio Rising Star competition. What would it mean to you to win?

April Kry: “Yes, I’m so honored to be a part of this competition! The talent in this group of artists is insane. Winning this would absolutely mean the world to me. Performing is the thing I love the most about being an artist because you get to physically interact with fans. If I win and get to perform at the iHeart Festival, that would truly be a dream come true!”

CS4U: Do you have any plans to tour or release new music in the summer?

April Kry: “Yes I do! I’m actually working on my next single now. I’m really excited about it especially because it’s something I wrote!”

CS4U: Why should our readers check out your music?

April Kry: “Well, my goal is to release music that has meaning, and that people can really relate to on a deep level. That’s very important to me. So if that’s important to you as well, you should definitely check out my music!! :)”

CS4U: Since our website is called CS4U, do you have any secrets or hidden talents that you can share?

April Kry: “I’m pretty good at applying makeup on people! I do it for all my friends. I’ve always loved makeup and girly things as a child, and after doing it for so many years I got to be pretty good at it! Now I’m endorsed my dream makeup company, MAC cosmetics!”
