Happy Monday, readers!

Today, we are introducing you to a new indie pop band that will for sure be on your playlist this fall! Meet DWNTWN.

From their beginnings as a folk duo, Jamie Leffler and Robert Cepeda have built DWNTWN into a band that over the course of two EPs has produced sparkling, dreamy indie-pop to wide acclaim. After an early song, “See My Eyes”, caught the attention of influential French label Kitsuné, the band expanded to a four-piece and became a force live, with Leffler’s dreamy vocals carrying DWNTWN’s perfect pop confections.

“Robert and I started DWNTWN when I broke up with his [Robert’s] brother,” lead singer Jame Leffler said. What became a way to express their emotions became a full time pursuit.

While DWNTWN may be seen as an indie-pop band, their sound falls into a category of its own. It fits every person, every mood, and can be put on every playlist.

The band’s hottest track is their single “Heroine” which racked in nearly one million plays on Spotify.  ”I wrote this song about my dad who died of a heroin overdose when I was 14″, says Leffler.  “He was the bassist for Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers so I grew up on the road with him. It was really sad and hard for me to watch someone I love be overcome by addiction. I was kind of scared to write about something this personal, but I’m really happy that we made this song.” The music video for “Heroine” was filmed all over Europe by Robert using his iPhone.

As for new music from DWNTWN, the band recently released their cover of Vance Joy’s hit song “Riptide”, and true to form, they added their synth pop groove to make it a highly memorable cover, and one that definitely needs to be playlisted. STAT.

CelebSecrets4U sat down with DWNTWN a few weeks ago learn a little more about the indie-pop group. In our interview, the band talks about how they formed as a band, their hit track “Heroine,” and their unique sound. Of course we got some secrets out of the band, too! Make sure to watch the interview below for more.
