Music Monday: Meet Jess Glynne

Happy Monday, readers!

Meet our Music Monday artist of the week, Jess Glynne.

Jess Glynne is a UK-based singer/songwriter that you may recognize as the voice on Clean Bandit‘s 3x platinum and GRAMMY award-winning hit “Rather Be.”

Glynne knew she wanted to be in music at a very young age. “In my teens, I worked as an intern at a music management company for eight months,” the singer told Celeb Secrets. “While there, I networked because I knew I wanted to be a singer. I went away to write and record my own material with different people and it came into place in a matter of time.”

Last month, our editor Kennia met with the 27-year-old at the annual Life is Beautiful Music & Art Festival in Las Vegas to chat about her music and appearance at the festival. “Being here at Life is Beautiful is absolutely amazing,” Jess told Celeb Secrets during the interview. “I love how the festival is right in the middle of the city; it’s wicked.”

The “Take Me Home” singer performed songs off her debut LP I Cry When I Laugh (2015), which went platinum in the UK after being available for only ten weeks. One of the songs on her set list was “Why Me,” which Glynne noted as “one of her favorites.”

Jess Glynne‘s music is so addicting; once you listen, you can’t stop. Amy Winehouse is the one to thank for Glynne’s incredible tunes, as the Atlantic Records recording artist really looked up to her when making her debut album. “I really like Amy Winehouse,” Glynne told us. “She grew up in North London (where I came from), we both come from the same [Jewish] heritage, and have similar backgrounds. I found her music so relatable, real, and honest, and she was someone I aspired to be like.”

Glynne‘s soulful twist on today’s pop music is what the industry needs right now. “My music is really honest and personal. I make a conscious effort to make my sound really unique,” she says.

Fans of Jess shouldn’t worry about new music, as the red-haired beauty is already in the talks of making a second album. “I started working on it, but really haven’t dived into it yet.”

We hope you get to work soon, Jess, cause we can’t wait to hear what you’ll bless us with next.
