Happy Monday, readers!

Meet our new Music Monday artist this week, Justin Morelli!

This New York-based pop/R&B artist is getting ready to release his very first LP this month titled I’m Ready.

For his LP, Morelli enlisted the help of writing partners, T. Coles (Chris Brown), JHart (Jason Derulo) and August Rigo (Justin Bieber) and the help of producers Rob Knox (Justin Timberlake) and Scott Storch (Beyonce).

CelebSecrets4U spoke with Justin Morelli to find out more about his upcoming album and his favorite track on his LP. We also asked him about why he chose to pursue music, what other projects he’s working on and how a lucky girl can get his attention. Plus, he shares a secret that proves he’s just like the rest of us – make sure to read our Q&A with Morelli below!

CS4U: What can fans expect from your upcoming album I’m Ready

Justin Morelli: “They can expect a lot of fun and a lot of diversity in music. I think no matter what you like you are going to find something on this album because there is something for everybody. There is heartbreak on there, there are more R&B leaning songs, there are more pop songs, so there is a good fusion of everything for anyone who likes music.”

CS4U: What was the most challenging part of putting together this album?

Justin Morelli: “For me, the most challenging thing is always that I am a perfectionist. I am constantly working on my songs and finding things that I want to change and tweak or add. So it takes a lot of work to just be satisfied with my music and to get it to a point where I am comfortable putting it out there.”

CS4U: Is there a song in particular that you are excited for fans to hear?

Justin Morelli: “I am really excited about the whole album but a personal favorite of mine is “Can’t Say Nothin.” The song is about one of my ex-girlfriends and it means a lot to me. As a human being we always wish that we can go back and change things about our relationships, certain decisions we have made and things we have done. I guess it was a lot for me to get it out there and share it, and I hope a lot of people can relate.”

CS4U: Like you said, some of your music is based on a past relationship. Does writing these songs help you cope with what happened? Did they teach you anything about yourself or the relationship that you didn’t realize before?

Justin Morelli: “I am a type of person that suppresses my emotions and if something upsets me, I just try to brush it off and look toward the positive things. Writing these songs about things that are actually going on in my life helped me let the feelings out so then I can move on. Knowing all the things that I went through with these relationships will help me in future relationships in my life. I hope that’s the case. I don’t think it taught me anything that I didn’t already know. It was more just getting it out there and letting my feelings come out and understand the things that I need to do better in future relationships.”

CS4U: You went to college and majored in communications and sports management. Why pursue music?

Justin Morelli: “Well, music was something that I loved from day one. When I was in college, I would sing for girls that I was dating and friends, so it was always a huge passion of mine. I’m also passionate about sports, and at that time I wanted to learn certain things about business and about communications that will help me with the business aspects of my own career. I wanted to have the knowledge to do that and not just rely on people around me to handle everything for me. I feel like if I have the knowledge to pursue my own career, it would help me tremendously. So I was pursuing music at the same time, I just didn’t specifically major in it.”

CS4U: What kind of music are you listening to right now?

Justin Morelli: “I’m listening to mostly R&B and Pop. The three albums I’ve listened to the most are Chris Brown’s new album, Justin Bieber’s new album and the Weeknd’s new album. I also like listening to a bunch of new artists, artists that are on the come up, like Kehlani, Bryson Tiller, Tory Lanez, Marc E. Bassy, you know, people like that.”

CS4U: In your song “Thing You Do,” you sing about being in love with a woman. What’s one thing that a woman can do to get your attention?

Justin Morelli: “The first thing I usually notice about a girl are her eyes. And then her personality and her presence. That will tell you everything you need to know, but basically a woman’s eyes stand out to me right off the bat.”

CS4U: Do you have any advice for fans that want to try a career in music?

Justin Morelli: “I would say the same thing that I say to anybody who asks me this question. I think the most important thing is that you have to live it and breathe it every single day, and you have to love what you’re doing. Especially in the music industry or entertainment, it takes a lot of commitment by yourself to really want to do this. You don’t really have a team of people around you that are doing the same thing. You’re doing this by yourself and you’re doing it alone. So you’ve got to really love it, you’ve got to be really dedicated and committed to it, and you just can’t give up. There will be a lot of trials and tribulations, a lot of people trying to knock you down and you’ve got to fight through it, you’ve got to believe in yourself until you finally get what you want.”

CS4U: Besides the new album, do you have any other projects you’re working on right now?

Justin Morelli: “I do. I am actually working on the next album after this which I’ve been working on for the past several months. I’ve been in the studio a lot, creating new music and just getting this next project ready. So yeah, I have a whole new album that will be coming shortly after the first one. I am going to be excited about that and there’s a lot of work that I am putting into it right now.”

CS4U: Since we are CelebSecrets4U, can you tell us a secret or hidden talent about yourself that your fans don’t know about?

Justin Morelli: “When I was really young, I used to go with a couple of my friends to the visiting baseball players’ hotel because the teams that were playing were the Mets and the Yankees. We would go over there and stand outside of the hotel, waiting for the players to come out. So I have a whole book full of autographs of all of the athletes.”
