Though The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug doesn’t hit theaters until December 13th, director Peter Jackson has teamed up with Ed Sheeran to tide us over with the end credits song, “I See Fire.” The haunting song hints at the perils of Bilbo and co.’s journey in the second movie in the trilogy, quoting lines directly from the film, and the video gives a peak into the recording process. “I See Fire” is probably the most exciting credits song collaboration so far for the younger fans of the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films, and an exciting opportunity for Sheeran, who played all of the instruments on the track, minus the cello.
