Last night, an extraordinary group of actors, musicians and athletes came together for Stand Up To Cancer, a star-studded effort that helps build public support for groundbreaking translational cancer research and accelerates the delivery of new therapies to patients. The one-hour fundraising event was simulcast live and commercial-free on ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC as well as Armed Forces Network, BIO, E!, ENCORE, HBO, HBO Latino, ION Television, LMN (Lifetime Movie Network), Logo, MLB Network, mun2, Palladia, SHOWTIME, Smithsonian Channel, STARZ, STYLE, TBS, and VH1 at 8PM ET & PT / 7PM CT. Hulu also provided the exclusive live stream of the telecast and will have the show on demand at http://www.hulu.com/stand-up-to-cancer. Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow and Emmy Award winner Joel Gallen joined Stand Up To Cancer’s production team as the executive producers.
In addition to personal patient stories, the program featured celebrity speakers and a celebrity phone/multi-media bank allowing viewers to interact with participating talent as well as performances by Coldplay, Alicia Keys, Taylor Swift and Tim McGraw. Donations can still be made online at www.su2c.org, via phone at 1-888-90-STAND (78263) or by texting STAND to 40202. One hundred percent of all public donations go directly to cancer research.
