Celeb Secrets: Tell us more about your new single “Trouble.â€Â
Jack Vandervelde: “‘Trouble’ is a song I wrote in 2014 during my freshman year in college. It is about being in what seems to be the start of a relationship. However, I quickly realized I had been in this situation before. I knew this would be trouble. It can be hard, but sometimes you have to walk away from something toxic before it’s to late. It was just not built to workout and we both realized that.”
Celeb Secrets: How would you describe your musical style?
Jack Vandervelde: “I would describe my music as acoustic pop with a singer/songwriter influence.”
Celeb Secrets: Where do you grab your inspiration from or which artists do you look up to?
Jack Vandervelde: “Ed Sheeran is my number one inspiration. I saw him live in 2013 (3 times) and realized that music is what I wanted to do and was certain about it. I am also inspired by other artist like Zac Brown Band, Taylor Swift, John Mayer, and the Chainsmokers. I have many more artist I look up to but it would take to long to explain all of them!”
Celeb Secrets: Describe your writing process.Â
Jack Vandervelde: “I think I have two styles of writing. There is the “I am going to just sit down and write a song” one, and then the other is when an idea will pop into my head and I will want to start working on it right away. Either way I have to be feeling it or else I will just force myself to write a song that will sit in the back of a binder.”
