Rising Pop Songstress FLEURIE Cries Almost Every Time While Writing A Song – Exclusive

Whether you know it or not, you’ve certainly heard Fleurie’s soft voice crooning through your TV speakers. Songs from her cinematic album release LOVE AND WAR have been featured on shows like Pretty Little Liars, Shadowhunters, Reign, The Originals, and even a Super Bowl commercial for the final season of critically-acclaimed show 24!

Last week, Fleurie dropped her stellar new single “Constellate” and it’s such a bop! The dreamy track gracefully captures the promise of new beginnings, and the possibility of transformation. With her ethereal vocals and intimate lyrics, Fleurie makes music that’s both otherworldly and rooted in raw emotion.  Co-produced by Fleurie (musical moniker of Nashville-based Lauren Strahm) and her longtime friend and keyboard player Justin Amundrud, “Constellate” arrives as the first single from Fleurie’s forthcoming full-length debut album which is expected later this year.

“Last February I got together to write with Justin for the first time, and the result was magic. He started playing the strings/synth patch that runs throughout “Constellate” and I heard all these melodies and lyrics instantly,” says Fleurie. “In my mind I saw a vision of all these people coming up from shelters underground after a big storm, it felt like a metaphor for what the last couple of years have been like for a lot of people in the world, for many different reasons. I knew I had to write a song to encourage all of our hearts to believe that we have it within us to do more than just survive…that we could truly live, hope and dream again, and be the ones who create a world where light blazes through the darkness.”

Celeb Secrets caught up with Fleurie to reveal just that — her secrets! Listen to her new song “Constellate” and learn more about the rising star below. You can keep up with Fleurie by following her on Instagram at @fleuriemusic.

1. My guilty pleasure is sewing/crafting. When I get stressed I always end up at JoAnn Fabrics and spend a weekend holed up in my apartment quilting or redecorating the entire place…

2. My first time singing a solo in front of anyone was at age 10 for 15,000 people at a Race For the Cure marathon event, but my parents told me there were 200 people there to keep me from backing out!

3. I lived/studied in Sydney, Australia for 3 of my college years and actually saw a tarantula in one of my friends’ houses.

4. Crying is the way I process any intense emotion – I cry almost every time I write a song, and it used to embarrass me but now I realize if I am not crying, it hasn’t actually meant enough to me and I need to keep digging around in my heart for what really needs to be said.

5. I came up with the name Fleurie while in college – I knew I wanted a one-word, two-syllable name that was French and started with the letter F. It means “in bloom”!
