Show Review: Meghan Trainor’s #ThatBassTour – March 13, 2015 (@Meghan_Trainor)

Meghan Trainor brought her sold-out That Bass Tour to New York City’s iconic Irving Plaza over the weekend and CS4U was able to catch the show on Friday evening (March 13).

That Bass Tour is the first-ever headlining tour for the GRAMMY nominated artist, which has hit major markets across the United States and Canada with stops in Vancouver, New York City, Los Angeles, Toronto, Chicago, and Washington, D.C.

Friday’s sold out show was filled with anxious Megatronz aged from 2 to 102 decked out in Meghan’s merchandise. The show began with a performance from Australian group Sheppard. The breakout act performed songs off their debut album Bombs Away, including “Find Someone,” “Flying Away,” “Smile,” “Something’s Missing,” and their chart-topping hit “Geronimo.” The band also had fans bobbing their heads to their breakthrough hit “Let Me Down Easy.”

After Sheppard’s killer performance, the woman of the hour, Meghan Trainor, took the stage. The 21-year-old opened her set with her sassy new single “Dear Future Husband.” Meghan’s fans, better known as “Megatronz,” were snapping photos on their iPhones and singing along to her catchy lyrics from songs such as “3am,” “Walkashame,” “No Good For You,” “Mr. Almost” and “Bang Dem Sticks.” In the middle of her performance, Meghan slowed things down and raised the lights to perform “Close Your Eyes,” “Like I’m Gonna Lose You,” and “My Selfish Heart.” We were totally lovin’ the stripped-down ukulele version of “Title” too — just sayin’.

One of our favorite parts of the show was when Meghan brought up two lucky fans, or as she calls them, “queens,” to sing and dance on stage with her. It was seriously the cutest thing we’ve ever seen!

The moment that everyone was waiting for finally came — “Lips Are Movin'” and “All About That Bass!” Meghan rocked out with the audience to her smash hit “Lips Are Movin'” and closed her hour long set with a confetti party while singing her platinum hit “All About That Bass.” It was truly a night that we will never forget!

The last show of That Bass Tour is this Friday in Nashville, TN. If you’re in the area we HIGHLY recommend that you check it out!

Make sure to check out Meghan’s debut album Title, available at all music retailers around the United States and Canada. ICYMI, Meghan just announced this week that she will be going on another headlining tour, The MTRAIN Tour, this summer! The tour kicks off July 3rd in Atlantic City, NJ.
