The Cast of CW’s “Charmed” Reboot Talks Show’s 20th Anniversary and New Changes

Just in time for the 20th anniversary, the fan-favorite show Charmed is back! Developed by Jennie Snyder Urman, Jessica O’Toole, and Amy Rardin, the reboot follows the lives of three sisters—Macy (Madeleine Mantock), Mel (Melonie Diaz) and Maggie (Sarah Jeffery)—who, after the death of their mom, discover they are “The Charmed Ones,” the most powerful witches. Each sister possesses a unique magical power, which they use to help protect innocent lives from supernatural demons.

The original Charmed aired from 1998 to 2006 on The WB. The beloved series starred Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs, and Shannen Doherty. There has been some controversy surrounding the reboot because the new CW series doesn’t have anything to do with the original series. Some of the original cast members has been vocal on social media about not supporting the reboot and not being included in it. When asked about the reboot at Comic Con Paris 2018, Shannen Doherty defended it saying it was “being a positive good influence for a younger generation.

Another major difference with the new reboot is its focus on diverse casting. The cast: Madeleine Mantock, Melonie Diaz and Sarah Jeffery stopped by New York Comic Con to discuss their involvement in the new series, their unique backgrounds and how this reboot will stay true to the special sister bond people love in the original.

Charmed airs Sundays at 9/8c on The CW! Catch up on the latest episodes of the show right here.
