The 2014 Billboard Music Awards finally arrived!
The entire night had us viewers hanging on the edge of our seats waiting for our non-stop tweets, radio requests, facebook statuses, and amount of bought singles on iTunes of our favorite artist to finally come into account.
It was shock-filled night with exciting new performances, heartfelt speeches and definitely memorable moments. Luckily CelebSecrets4U narrowed it down to just 12.
Our Top 12 moments from the 2014 Billboard Music Awards are:
12. Lorde’s “Tennis Courts” Debut
With her artistic style Lorde took the stage and captivated the audience with her stage presence as she sang to her second hit single “Tennis Courts”. The black silhouette of the area was perfect for the teen sensation, right before she took home two awards “Top New Artist”, and “Top Rock Song”. We don’t doubt that there will be much in store in the future for this outbreak artist.
11. Ariana Grande And Iggy Azalea’s “Problem” Performance
We were already anticipating this performance and these girls did not disappoint, the hit single “Problem” shot to number 3 on the Billboard Hot One Hundred in a matter of weeks of releasing. Ariana Grande’s dance moves paired with Iggy Azalea’s rap and sick beats made for one attention grabbing performance, one thing is for sure they will have one less “Problem” from getting the radio to play their single after tonight.
10. Florida Georgia Line and Luke Bryan’s “This Is How We Roll” Performance
Tonight was a night filled with wonderful mash ups this one included, we had country’s brightest stars performing on stage to the number 2 on the Billboards Hot Country Songs Chart “This is how We Roll“. This performance was fun and had us dancing right along side the FGL duo and Luke Bryan on stage.
9. John legend performance of “All of Me” and “You and I”
His single was already known around the world for breaking hearts, so we knew that when he performed tonight it would be magical. Nothing was more beautiful then watching him play across the piano keys while his wife was shown in the camera singing along to his song. The single “All of Me” has been number 1 on the Billboards Hot 100 Chart for two weeks, and as John Legend explained before his performance was written for his wife.
8. Robin Thicke performance of “Get Her Back”
His controversy of a “break-up” with Paula Patton already received press enough so when he said this performance was his way to get her back, we all were awaiting to see what was in store. His never been released single “Get Her Back” was such a heart felt performance, we couldn’t help but choke up when seeing the tears in his eyes after his performance.
7. Shakira’s “Empire” Performance
Its been a while since we have seen her onstage, but her newly released single paired with her spicy dance moves was the perfect way to announce this single to new ears. The single “Empire” made its way to 36-32 on the Pop Songs Airplay Chart, making this her 15th hit on The Billboard Top 100 Chart.
6. Justin Timberlake Calls Out Donald Sterling
Justin Timberlake, who while the show was being aired, was on tour for his album “The 20/20 experience” still managed to accept the Top 200 Album award. However this isn’t what has social media buzzing–it was his comment towards Donald Sterling, whose manager of “clippers” was recently recorded for stating racist statements towards he team last month. During Justin Timberlake’s speech he said “It is not a competition but if it was, I won. I want to thank everyone on earth, except Donald Sterling,”.
5. Kendall Jenner Calling 5SOS One Direction
The beautifully dressed Kendall Jenner was fumbling under the pressure tonight at the 2014 Billboards Music Award show. When introducing 5 Seconds of Summer, she started to misread the teleprompter and started to say “one”. Now we can’t say for sure that she was going to say “One Direction”, but lets hope that next time she brings her reading glasses.
4. Jason’s DeRulo’s Mashup Performance
-He has been taking over the Pop Charts for weeks whether its his single “Marry Me” (which was rumored to be written about his girlfriend Jordan Sparks), “Talk Dirty“, and “Wiggle“. Tonight’s performance was a perfect mix of a mash-up, paired with skilled dancing and top style tricks, this performance will be top watched videos on YouTube for weeks.
3. Jennifer Lopez Receives Icon Award & Performs “First Love”
Jennifer Lopez has been on the radio for years now, from her first well know hit “Jenny from the Block” to her blockbusters such as “Monster in Law” and “Maid in Manhattan“. This star has truly mastered all the talents of super stardom. all her accomplishments shown in the video tonight simply showed why she was well deserving of this award. Her speech showcased her love for her craft and those who have helped her over the years. Her humbleness through it all reconfirmed just why her fans are so dedicated to her.
2. Michael Jackson Hologram Tribute Performance
Michael Jackson in Holographic form showed while even after death his fan-base still remains strong. The hologram performed his single “Slave to the Rhythm” off his posthumous album “Xscape” which was dropped last week and already became number 1 in 50 countries.
1. Katy Perry “Birthday” Performance
Katy Perry never disappoints when performing on stage, but tonight definitely “took the cake”. Her new hit single recently released and climbing the charts. “Birthday” is a fun-filled song that many will soon be singing along to. Her performance tonight was colorful, attention grabbing and exciting, the best part of the performance was not only did she bring someone from the audience on stage to serenade them, she later left the stage on a hot air balloon and flew around the stadium while throwing confetti.
